BrandFuckingNew,
The only reason, I atleast see you as ignorant is because you posted useless bashing of the band. You have every right to have an opinion, but you come off biased.
I'm not trying to convert anyone to listen to The Chariot. I enjoyed Josh in the 'old' Norma Jean, and The Chariot just fills that void.
You really don't have any position to talk shit, especially if you don't even listen to hardcore.

Ask em if they get annoyed when people consider them or any metalcore band to be a hardcore band.
And if they did have the chance would they re-record their cd so the drums actually sound listenable.

Definitely ask them the first one for sure.
My question would be what do they think of this whold "hardcore" explosion is. Like, what they think of how everything "hardcore" is becoming a trend.
Another question would be, would the ever attempt an acoustic song? haha
Unreasonable

I want to know why so many hardcore bands are christian bands as well.... seems an unlikely combo. Something to do with getting out all aggression musically so that it doesnt affect or taint your spiritual life? eh i don't know and ask if you can go roll down big hills with them... and then do it...

01/09/05, 03:11 AM
ask them why their song titles are longer than the actual lyrics... and ask them why they have such ridiculously pretentious liner notes about how they didn't use any computers during recording like they're doing something innovative.

They did something that fits the band's style. They recorded it the way it was written. Raw and brutal. It wouldn't be as intense of an album if they actually when through with a computer to make everything sound perfect.
ask them wheter or not they consider touring in europe and if they'd be willing to visit the beautiful city that is vienna.
haha :>
ask josh if he really was a circus performer.

raw and brutal? "everythings alive" is possibly one of the most boring cds i've ever bought in my entire life..ask them if their goal was to start another stereotypical, unoriginal brocore band.

half of you people are pretty retarded. the majority of you who bash on hardcore for always sounding the same listen to shitty emo. emo not only has a consistent whine, but it's also totally gay. so style your effeminate hair, put on your tight pants, and listen to the same lyrics over and over again that beg the listener for pity. in the meantime, i'm going to listen to my darkest hour cd full of great musicianship, and thoughtful lyrics.
ps, the chariot owns.
by the way, the chariot owns, and they put on a sick live show.

01/09/05, 01:59 PM
i think the same arguments happen on every thread on this site
it's always "hardcore versus emo"
the scene is so lame
music is music guys
enough of the typical "go style your effeminate hair" and "go buy some more tight jeans" put downs
so what if you don't like the chariot, big deal
so what if you don't like brand new, big deal as well
i myself love the chariot because they are one of the only bands i know of that are true to the cause
they're not about the slick polished sound
so what if they mess up, that's life, that's raw
that's music in it's purest form
and they love jesus, and aren't ashamed to proclaim it
i think it's great
so seriously everyone just grow up
everyone should start listening to ska again
that would be great haha
i love you all
-landon
ps. oh yeah ask them how they feel about the state of bands in the "christian market" and their lifestyles offstage through things they've witnessed on the road and at festivals.
Seancore
01/09/05, 02:04 PM
Ask about what they think of all the negative comments and reviews they get for not using computers to enhance their album, then ask them what it's like to be real musicians and not have protools to make them sound pretty.

It's funny people always bring up emo. But the people who do this, shout that they don't know what the fuck emo is. You want some emo that destroys any actual hardcore (hardcore being the punk sounding kind, I know you're use to your xhardcorex as i lay dying shit) is circle takes the square. That is some emo right there. Or Saetia. Go listen and then say "emo is all about whinning"

well, if you're gonna bring that up, then i can let you in on something you may not know. those bands aren't emo. they're screamo. saetia plays old school screamo, kinda like you and i, the assistant, kaospilot, pageninetynine, etc. these bands branched from the hardcore genre, bringing in more emotion to an aggressive style of music. over the past few years, these bands have also drawn in grind influences to their sound, i.e. circle takes the square. of course bands that are influenced by grind bands are gonna be heavy as shit. emo is softer music that puts focus on emotion, and is almost always more listener friendly.
ps, as i lay dying isn't hardcore. hardcore is bands like gorilla biscuits, bane, sick of it all, bands like them
