Here are my lovely recommendations for this week:
The Decemberists (http://www.decemberists.com/) - Their new album Picaresque is crazy good. I'm so mad at myself for not finding out about this band earlier.
Death From Above 1979 (http://www.deathfromabove1979.com/) - It's really hard to describe what this band sounds like because it's so many different things. If I had to put a name to it, i'd say it's Simon & Garfunkel meet The Chemical Brothers. Great music though, check 'em out.
The Arcade Fire (http://www.arcadefire.com/) - I checked this album out solely because Ryan put it at his number one album of the year, and damn did it not dissapoint! Beautiful and melodic, this band is gonna stick around for a long time.
Bright Eyes (http://www.saddle-creek.com) - The song i've listened to more than anything this week is "Road To Joy". That is such a great song, no matter what your opinion is on Iraq and everything, it's just so catchy. I personally think I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is the best album Conor has put out.
Movie Recommendation:
Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle (http://www.haroldandkumar.com/) - I bought this on Wednesday and have watched it like nine times since then. So funny, and even after nine times I haven't gotten sick of the jokes. Great stoner classic.

I went and saw the Arcade Fire in concert a few months ago, not knowing who they were and I was just blown away.. good recommendation.

I didn't know the Decemberists had a new album coming out/already out. I knew about the Billy Liar EP but hadn't heard about anything else.
I still haven't checked out Death from Above 1979 and I've heard so much about them the past few months. I'll have to soon.
Arcade Fire and Bright Eyes are always good.
Ugh, Harold and Kumar is so vulgar. I saw it when it was in theaters and there are some really funny moments but a lot of the stuff makes me cringe a little.

harold and kumar was hillarious. definitely expecting this one to reach cult status like office space did.

road to joy is going to be one of the best new songs of the year, even though it was written before may, 2003.

good call on most of the music, as im not too familiar with the decemberists, i love the others. honestly though, i watched harold and kumar and it just plain sucked. my friends all told me that i wasnt high enough, so we got incredibly high and watched it and it still sucked ass. my main problem with it is even though you show dudes getting high, it doesnt automatically make your movie funny. and its a hour and a half commerical for white castle, which is the most repulsive fast food in the entire world.

White Castle is like masturbation. In both instances you usally end up in the bathroom and feeling sorry for yourself, but the road there is a dream come true.

Great recommendations! I agree, I can not stop listening to I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and honestly feel it is Conor's best work yet. Digital Ash... is really excellent too, but just doesn't grab me in the same way.

Awesome recommendations. Funeral is so good, I really wasn't sure what to expect from TAF but they have blown me away in every aspect. I've had Tunnels on repeat for the past week, I can't think of a single song that makes me happier.

well, there's always chicago. we have snow now, so you can go sledding in your boxers. Or you can do "freeze outs", where you drive around in a car the winter with all the windows down wearing nothing but your underwear. First one to call mercy loses. There's always bars and stuff. But doing stuff in our boxers is how we roll.
ok...yea went sledding last night, im 20, so bars just barely not an option..........but i normally keep my pants on around other men

Yay. DFA 1979 also owns, it's like a less artsy/less extreme Lightning Bolt with more vocals.
definitely, the new version of keep your voices down is.....wonderful, along with the whole album actually

That's definitely my fave song off the CD, but I think that both the new CDs are amazing in their entirity.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Emmylou Harris guest vocals though. Her voice and Conor's don't compliment each other.

I just got "Funeral" by The Arcade Fire this week, and it's definitely deserving of all the praise that it's been getting. And I love Bright Eyes and The Decemberists, too, so good recommendations.
