Here's whats up.

The Fall of Troy (http://www.thefalloftroy.com/) - Saw them live again last night, and was once again blown away. If you haven't checked out the insanity yet, it's time to do it. They are a three piece that plays hard and creative progressive hardcore.

Aaron Sprinkle (http://www.aaronsprinkle.net/) - Most know him as a producer, but he also has three solo albums out. It's pretty chill acoustic stuff, and he has a unique voice. Check out the song "Really Something."

From a Second Story Window (http://www.fromasecondstorywindow.com/) - I was randomly on myspace, and I went to somebody's page, and I heard this intense hardcore/metal band playing in the background. I had to know who it was, and I discovered this band. I then got some songs by them, and wow. If you like Norma Jean, Zao, or any chaotic hardcore, check these dudes out.

Neutral Milk Hotel (http://neutralmilkhotel.net/) - Yeah, I know I'm about 6 years too late for this train, but I just fell in love with these guys. Really cool indie with all sorts of effects/instrumentation. A near impossible sign to define, but it's acoustic stuff for the most part - if you like indie that's a little more "out there", you should head down to the record store and pick the album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea up.

Kane Hodder (http://www.hodderrock.com/) - This local band is really starting to turn some heads, and it's obvious why. Their eclectric brand of music combines high pitched vocals with unrestricted screams. It's like Converge meets The Darkness or something. The music is catchy as hell too, with great melodies, hand claps, and breakdowns.

neutral milk hotel is excellent. jeff mangum's work stands resolutely in the category of art. does anyone know what he is doing these days?

From A Second Story Window has a new singer, so whatever you hear now, may not sound like the new FASSW.

p.s., The Fall Of Troy's demo that's floating around (Ghostship Part I, etc) ownz.

I'm not sure who makes more noise in respect to the number of members in the band:

Fall of Troy (3) or DFA 1979(2)

I think Fall Of Troy, technically, is fucking brilliant.

haha.

yeah, the whole singing screaming thing while playing technically is awesome and loud. awesome.

it reminds me of this band that played at my church like 5 years ago. they were called "Solace". The lead singer was pumping out harmonics like a madman and singing these really cool parts at the same time. I was blown away. Too bad they aren't together anymore.

You obviously have not heard Anaal Nathrakh (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47F1CDF4DAB7520D393334 FC0BA74FD07DF54F39C1B00425AC8B83041 814375EE51E98893F2BD20F635AEE027BB5 80FD3CFA25FF6DD62373D89FEC61D&sql=10:wnh9kemtfq79) :wink3:

Edit: Forgot to mention they have two members.

Double Edit: Also forgot to mention that Aaron Sprinkle was a great choice. Lackluster was definetely one of the most underrated albums of 2004.

good calls on the kane hodder/fall of troy..i was listening to kane hodder non stop like a month ago and now i can't let go of the fall of troy and i can't wait to be able to see the fall of troy live to see how it is they pull it off, thomas has one of the fastest paced screams i've heard and its so on target, i would orgasm if i saw them live...as for nmh i haven't really giving them a chance but maybe its time i do.

I highly agree - these guys are fucking incredible. Stumbled on to them about 6 months ago and there hasn't been a day that's gone by where I haven't listened to them. There are some live bootleg videos of 'em on their message board floating around...see of you can find 'em. Rumor has it that they signed to Equal Vision, too...I'd love to see that confirmed. That way, they can at least go on something more than a small west coast tour.
