this is for school, i had to write a 15-20 line poem on pride and patriotism and together-ness...so i wrote about 9/11 and how the people in the city pulled together and became heroes. let me know what you think and give me suggestions on how i can change it:

The jets soared through morning skies.
Most Americans still lay fastened asleep dreaming.
Fireworks at dawn astonished the nation.
All we could do was sit back and watch it on the screen.

Heroes, in agreement, pulled together and charged in.
The ash, the rubble, the leftover debris.
Two magnificent monsters came crumbling down in the blink of an eye.
And the shadows they once cast were a remote memory.

Lives were blessed and were rescued at the nick of time.
They heard our cries, felt our tears, and saw our grief.
But after all the tragedy on that frightful dawning.
Our hearts are forever unified by the passing of our loved ones.

One horrific daybreak.
One terrible cause of disaster.
One country now stands taller.
