Jared Kaufman

Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack (http://www.motioncitysoundtrack.com) is shooting a short film this weekend in Minneapolis called Karen that he wrote and is directing. Here's what he had to say about it:
"I hope to help create something that everyone involved can use to further their own endeavors, but there's not a lot of money involved (since I'm self-funding it) so I don't think that it will ever be 'shown' anywhere..." And as for what the film is like? "I'm aiming for Jim Jarmusch, but I'd be happy with Ed Wood."

So because he makes music you guys like, that automatically means his movie will be "genius"?

yeah, and because i wanna make out with him.
Does anybody else ever wonder why whenever somebody says something positive about a band, there are at leas 15 people who respond with "yeah" or "totally". Especially when it has to do with bands most people couldn't have cared less about 2 months ago.

Well i've met and chatted with him like 6 different times and just by that i know that he is one of the most ingruiging dudes i've ever met. he's so hilarious and witty...if anyone has met him they would agree. he was talking about coming back to my school (where he graduated from) and directing one of our school plays. now THAT would be awesome. JP in my own school? hell yeah

Does anybody else ever wonder why people waste their time reading a post about a band they don't even like, then they waste even more time reading all of the posts by people who rightfully could be excited about something, just so that they could diss the band and the people who like the band? And what makes you think people couldn't care less about them 2 months ago?

arrested development is seriously a kick-ass show.

Well the thing is that I do like Motion City Soundtrack, and that's why I was reading the post. I liked Motion City Soundtrack before I Am the Movie got re-released on Epitaph and was packaged in a diskette case. Why do I think people didn't care about them 2 months ago? Well up until Warped Tour in NYC I had never seen them play to more than 100 people. Even on a tour with Northstar and Rufio, there couldn't have been 30 people there, and that was only last year. The reason I had to read through everybody saying "yeah" and "totally" is because you keep hoping someone might have something intelligent to say about a band. You can be as excited as you want about it, but that's really no different than saying you think Jared Leto's band is brilliant because you think he's a good actor.
So because he makes music you guys like, that automatically means his movie will be "genius"?
Thats pretty much it, cause people that know how to write songs will pretty much be able to write a movie, cause people that can write songs are smart.
just to maintain the integrity of this discussion i will add the obligitory statement that...
i wish justin would have my babies

i think he got a little too heavy to do it. because the first time i saw them, he did that shit to full extension haha.. and since that first time, he's gradually decreased it. they kick ass though. justin pierre definitely has a director's name. haha
edit** i quoted the wrong person haha. i meant to quote the guy who said that he would pay to see a moog handstand.

well those people that missed mcs two years ago when you and i were rocking out at their shows fucking missed out and i feel sorry for them. i love seeing motion city progress and grow and finally get the recognition they deserve for being such a creative, talented band. joel from small towns told me about justin's movie project and it's exciting to see him extend his genius (just for you, rob) beyond music.
i saw shane west's band play last year and they were HORRIBLE.

Yeah, I've been watching them since they played in front of such small crowds. I saw them at the Des Plaines Theatre a couple years ago. Only like fifty people were there, maybe a little more.
