I'm in a post hardcore band, and we have 4 vocalists
What would be good mics to use without spending a lot

What would be a quality mics that wouldn't be too bad on budget?

Also, We're looking into getting 3 Wireless guitar packs
because the guys love going crazy without the hassle of wires

Any suggestions / recomendations?

thanks!

What is your budget for mics? Cheap mics aren't going to last and aren't going to give you very good quality, plus most venues supply mics. There is another topic about mics that popped up not too long ago here. As far as wireless, seinheiser (not sure about the spelling) makes a pretty good, cheap wireless system (I got mine for $100).

Most venues do, but we'll be touring soon and can't depend on all venues
Budget is probably around 100 dollars per mic
any suggestions
and I'll check out the seinhesier wireless system
thanks

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Shure-SM58-Mic-100038284-i1126419.gc this is pretty much the industry standard. $99 per mic. And if you're going on tour, just ask all the venues what they have.

I'd second the SM58. Though, mostly, I'd recommend NOT blowing bones on a wireless system. The quality of your playing is way more important than if you can do tricks with your guitar. Saving a few bucks on that would, maybe, give you the luxury of even better mics.

My vocalist uses this mic live:

Gotta say, the difference between that and an SM58 are appreciable. I wish I was using one of those Sennheisers, and NOT an SM58, the clarity and headroom is absurd.

Yeah, an SM58 or a Sennheiser dynamic would definitely be a good idea. Cheap, durable, good quality for the money.

Are you talking live or recording? How much screaming (if any) do you guys do?

I would recommend Audix. Great mics but still kind of under the radar... http://www.zzounds.com/a--1786918/item--AUDOM2

I'm not completely against this idea, but I'm not completely behind it either. I believe the reason concerts are referred to as "shows" is because thats what it is in some cases. I absolutely hate going to shows and seeing a band just stand there and play their songs. I am very for playing well, but also for being entertaining. I myself tend to do guitar throws once and a while, but the biggest convenience of having wireless is not getting tangled up with your band mates, which can severely lessen your ability to play well.

What's the difference between the 57 and the 58? I haven't worked in a studio in a few years, and I seem to only recall using 57s back then.

58s are like standard vocal mics mainly used for live performance. they look like this:

58s have the windscreen built in for vox, whereas the 57 does not. Other than that, same thing.

Gotcha. Thanks for that.

If you can go for the beta 58s or the beta 57s, I feel like they feed back less.
