I just got back from their first show in forever. They played at a skatepark in ATL and tore it up as usual. They played every song on the militia group EP including Will doing "Fiend" while the band set up. They also played the aforementioned "Honestly" and it sounded great as I'm sure it was their first time performing it live.

cartel is a fun band. i dont think theyre anything spectacularly musically, but theyre really fun to listen to. like a .moneen. id bet theyre insane in concert too, but i cant speak from experience.

I don't know what I think of this band. They are good pop rock, but nothing spectacular. The pop/emo genre as a whole has been kind of boring for me lately, but this band is one of the better in it that I've heard recently.

lyrics dont have to be poetry full of twenty dollar words to be enjoyable. Yes cartel does not have the greatest lyrics ever. but they are good. and its the rest of the music that makes it asthetically pleasing. will vocals are amazing and the guitar licks are almost addicting. even though i do enjoy bands like thursday and mewithoutyou...poetic lyrics. thats obviously not a necessity in good music. because there is more that just the actual words they are saying involved in the song.
