i just got the northstar cd "pollyanna," and it is incredible. i highly recommend it to fans of taking back sunday, letter kills, and brand new. they're a good mix of different bands out there, and it's hard to pinpoint one band they are similar too. just check them out...you won't regret it.

standout tracks: "the pornographer's daughter," "pollyanna," "the accident underwater," "to better my angel"

Yeah, kinda late on this one but yeah. If you like them, listen to their friends, and friends of mine, Driving in Silence. They share the same producer, Matt Squire and are great friends with each other. They'll be recording more at the end of the month.

Northstar is one of my favorite bands, Nick Torres is a lyrical genius.

Nick Torres is most deifnately a lyrical genious, puts many to shame. However, how can you say "For fans of Letter Kills" because Northstar is nothing at all like Letter Kills. Not starting a fight because you rock for buying Pollyanna, get Is Thing Loaded too, shitty recording, great songs.

i'm not saying that lyrically letter kills is on the same level as northstar...i'm just saying that, as i was listening to the cd, i heard some musical qualities that were somewhat similar to letter kills. i don't listen to letter kills often, but some aspects of the music reminded me of them.

i want to get my hands on the newly re-recorded broken parachute, it was on (probably still is) purevolume, it's sooooo much better than the original

Not to mention Northstar kicks sooo much ass live. I had the pleasure of seeing them once and would love to see them play live again.

Dude, even Northstar says that the recording quality on "Is this thing Loaded?" is terrible. Listen to Pollyanna right after you take out Is this thing Loaded and the recording on Pollyanna is so much better. Plus, if it was good why would they re-record it? I really hope they Re-record "Train Hopping in Dixieland".

Yeah "Pollyanna" has amazing recording because Matt Squire produced it and we all know he is the man.

I'm not going to get defensive, I mean sure their no Glassjaw or Mars Volta, but I like their Southern edge they kind of added to the normal formula. Anyways, what's your reasoning for not likeing them?

very generic and unnapealing.

You really find it generic? One of the reasons they appeal to me so much is that it seems they bring something different to the table than most "emo" bands. Oh well, it's your opinion.
