I, like probably a fair few people on this forum, have only heard one Moldy Peaches track, but I like it,

And I love Kimya Dawson's solo stuff, it's so honest and cute sounding. Loose Lips is brilliant.

Kimya Dawson's the woman haha.

And I've heard Neutral Milk Hotel, being a big Brand New fan, but not Folk Implosion,

Admittedly I'm not a massive fan of this type of music usually, but I loved Juno and I guess the music is part of the whole movie package so I'd have to love it haha.

Come on, a TINY part of you must admire how they're not all dolled up and edited and fake like most bands these days?

no, and even if that part had existed, it would be long dead from all the bourbon i drank to forget that movie existed.

what song did they have that was in Juno?

I think it's called Anyone Else But You,

Juno and the guy cover it at the end, it's kinda sweet.

I think the original's played at a couple of points too.

No, these guys needed a thread. They blew up after Juno. Just not my (or togepi's) cup of tea.

YOU'RE generally bullshit.

I kid, I would usually agree but this is more like, I dunno, as I've said I like the honest sound to it, and that's what makes it cute to me.

if by honest sound you mean annoying singing, yeah, it's wicked honest.

SamEyes
09/26/08, 02:19 PM
Haha, I guess that's kinda what I mean,

More like untouched, unedited, raw.

Something about that appeals to me, they're not trying to make it big by making their music all fake and, as a result, more annoying.

It's just a refreshing change.

Tons of lo-fi you can look for that's better than this.

that sound ur talking about, i find it relaxing

not all music is suposed to be hard as fuck, music needs a softer side to contrast metal

Which is where Nick Drake, Iron & Wine, Will Oldham, Leonard Cohen, and so on come in.

weird. none of those people you listed have annoying voices and inane lyrics.

Okkervil River? From everything I've read, they're indie darlings.

An argument could be made for Oldham and Cohen in terms of vocals. Regardless, they all kill The Moldy Peaches.
