Is supposed to be terrible... but how?
Directed by Fernando Mereilles and based off one of the greatest novels of the past two decades. What went wrong here?
The bad reception is dissapointing, I'll still see it

Yeah its getting ripped apart, but i'll still be seeing it. On top of Mereilles directing, im a Mark Ruffalo fan, so its still highly anticipated for me.

Except that it's not just some critics. It's getting lots and lots of very bad reviews. It just doesn't make sense.

18 bucks? Srsly? Man, a movie ticket is like 4.50 'round these parts.

It's at least $10 here.

Again, it's not just some critics. It's getting almost universally bad reviews and I've seen at least two critics say it will be a nominee for worst film of the year. Like many people have said in here, I'll still see the film on the merit of the book and director, I was just surprised so many critics hae disliked it so much.

Saramago loved it. That's all I really care about.
I had a Blindness avatar but changed it in favor of Rapeman.

Did they cut or heavily edit the rape scene like I heard they were going to do?

i didn't know there was "controversy" over this movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blindness_(film)#Controversy).

I have a feeling this is gonna be a very "non-american/hollywood" movie in a Funny Games kind of sense.

I mean, I don't know how rough it was in the first cut, but I think it was just about as much as I would have cared to handle.

Wow, who knew a book would go way over blind people's heads.

People always find something to bitch about. They don't get that the characters in the movie become what they are only because they are blind. There is soooo much more to it, including the whole situation.

That's just the cherry on the sundae. Can't win them all, but when you do? Damn, that cherry tastes good.

Does the movie handle the dog well? It's brilliant in the novel but I would think it would be a little cheesy and unrealistic in a movie.

I very much enjoyed this film. My only complaint was I wish they would not have spent so much time in the ward, I felt that was the weakest part of the script. But very solid acting from moore and ruffalo.

I just watched it and I don't know why it got a bad reception. I thought it was an extremely well done movie. As much as I hate to say it, I think it is a pretty realistic take on what would happen in that situation as well. It might not be for everyone, but it's one of those movies I think everyone should watch once.
Despite the reviews, I really want to watch this. I just finished the novel a few minutes ago and thought it was incredible.
