Movies That Have Influenced or Reflected Music

with Nick and Norah's playlist movie coming out....I was starting to think of other movies that have either INFLUENCED the music scene, or movies that have reflected the music of its era...

for instance...

i feel that Garden State was a major player in the expansion and popularity of the "indie scene". So in retrospect they influenced music?

reflected is a little easier...
american pie, saturday night fever, etc.

I've gotta go with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, it influenced a lot of the first circa album and also this rapper Jay Electronica looped parts of the score and rapped over it, which I highly recommend, it's really well done.

Well i know its soundtrack is pretty popular, i guess promoting indie music like garden state (which im yet to see). Its a cult film too, so the soundtrack is heavily promoted...

i dont remember the darko soundtrack being that revolutionary...

Yeah, Garden State was the first movie to come to mind for me.

Juno, too, in a way. Its pushing it a bit, but almost everyone I knew who saw the movie also got the soundtrack, too.

AND SNAKES ON A PLANE, OBVIOUSLY. :-)
