After spending the summer of 2004 on Ozzfest and fall touring North America in support of The Used and Taking Back Sunday, Atreyu announce the “Thick As Thieves” Tour. Sponsored by Xbox, House of Blues, Music Choice, Alternative Press, Hot Topic and Pure Volume, the tour kicks off on February 8th with two sold out shows at House of Blues in Anaheim. For the first headlining tour in support of their critically acclaimed album, “The Curse”, Atreyu invited their friends in Unearth, Norma Jean and Scars of Tomorrow to join them. Vocalist Alex commented, “I don’t think I have ever looked so forward to a tour in my life. To be on the road again with Unearth, who we have already toured with on Ozzfest will be a lot of fun, they are an amazing band to watch every night. Also Norma Jean will be ripping kid’s lives apart daily. And my boys from back home in OC, Scars of Tomorrow, will really be grabbing a lot of kid’s attention cause flat out, they are heavy, and rad dudes! Good times will ensue. This is gonna be one hell of a spring fling."

Atreyu burst out of Orange County in 2002 with their groundbreaking Victory debut, “Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses”, garnering praise from Alternative Press, Metal Maniacs and Revolver. Touring with bands like the legendary Snapcase honed their set into a tight, explosion of metal and hard rock, offset by the dynamic vocal interplay of drummer Brandon Saller and singer Alex Varkatzas. The album went on to sell 200,000 copies worldwide and established the band as a force to be reckoned with. They toured non-stop until it was time to begin recording their second album, with GGGarth at his compound outside of Vancouver. “The Curse” was the result, a fully realized album of songs of rage, betrayal and the power of individual will. Critics raved, with Rolling Stone calling Atreyu the “Hot New Metal Band” and Guitar One choosing them for their Top Ten Guitar Riffs of 2004.

Before the Thick As Thieves Tour rolls out, Atreyu will film the video for their second single, “The Crimson” with Sean Stiegemeier, who directed the video for “Lip Gloss and Black” in 2004. His trademark lush imagery brought the band back for round two. Alex explains, “We have decided to shoot a video for The Crimson...I cant reveal too much... but lets just say it’s gonna be weird and creepy...its gonna be a good one…strong visuals...but different then any video we have ever done…I promise...and if you thought we might be a little weird before... just wait!”

The “Thick As Thieves” tour will roar across the United States before heading overseas to Europe, Australia and Japan. Atreyu are available for interviews now.

I love Atreyu's old stuff, but I love their new stuff more. I don't care what (prefix)core they are, The Curse is flat out amazing. I'll be at the Worcester show.

You're a blood brothers fan and you make a comment like that? I don't get how people like the blood brothers. Atreyu is just a good heavy, catchy band.

I think Atreyu is a great band, they have paid alot of dues and finally are getting the recognition they deserve. I dont know why people have to hate on bands just because they want to actually make a decent living doing something they love....when you know 99% of you out there would surely do the same if the chance was given. Also excited to see Scars of Tomorrow....gonna be a great tour.

I dont think Atreyu has ever been given a prefix before the -core part of the genre. Adjectives maybe.

exactly...its impossible to say that because you like one band that you must like another simply because they have a similar sound

thanks for having balls to admit you love it.
i love it too, its so much more diverse than their old record. yes, SNABK was good, but it lacks variety. they rip through songs off the curse live.

Atreyu is a good band but as far as cohesion and "the whole package" as you could call it The Blood Brothers have that in spades. I have seen both bands live twice; before and after their last releases. The Blood Brothers are an amazing band that maybe not as unique now definently was a breath of fresh air a couple years back but they still rock more then ever.

Wow, this is another one of those bands that have made us wonder if music is inherently a bad thing. Rip off some Maiden riffs, mix it with some Hatebreed and AFI, sprinkle in a bit of mascara, bi-curious experimentation and anal lube, and you have the FRUITIEST BAND SINCE MANOWAR. Yeah dude, this shit is fruitier than George Michael eating a bowl of dick snot soup. Like Right Said Fred if Right Said Fred grew up in Orange County, discovered AFI, and painted their finger nails black. We feel dirty just hearing this shit. This is the new breed of Warped Tour bands, and it's spreading like a bad case of herpes. But these days, instead of the bands wearing board shorts and hanging around Nofx and Pennywise's busses trying to stick their tongues up their asses, this new breed of wankers look like Hot Topic shopping spree winners, and fight each other over who gets to hold the umbrella over Davey Havok's head next in hopes that he'll give up the asspussy.

assuming the remarks presumed to be homophobic were only insterted to poke fun at how scene it is to do homosexual-like things these days, this is a great post. two of the worst bands i can think of are atreyu and AFI.
