Long story short, I tried to get into a bar last night with a fake ID, the bouncer gave my ID to a cop, got an obstruction of justice ticket and a ticket for trying to get in the bar. 800 bucks. Devestating.

You Vandal
09/27/08, 09:50 PM
Yeah its bullshit. I dont get why I got the obstruction of justice. The bouncer gave the cops my fake, not me. They asked me if the information was correct on the ID, like if it was really me, and I said yes because it is my name and adress, just wrong birthday. And I showed them a credit card and student ID to prove it was my name. I never said I was 21 or that it was my real birthday. Then after they threatened to handcuff me if I didn't comply, I gave them my real ID.

Well, I just told the cop that it really was me, which it was. When she said. "if i run your name will you come up as 21." I didnt reply. So really, all I was confirming about the ID was that it really was me. I know obstruction of justice is a really broad statute that can be applied pretty much however the officer wants, so I'm basically fucked.

girl cops suck, I'm a girl and I dread seeing a girl get out of a squad car. there no way of getting out of anything with a girl.
I got my Id taken away just shy of my 21st, in Chicago the cops/bars really aren't that strict depending on what area of the city you're in. I didn't have a fake, I used my old bosses id, because we look similar. When they took it away I got off easy, he just cracked it in front of me and denied me entry. If they had called the cops my license would be revoked until either 21 or 25 depending on your background, 50 hours of community service, court fees and a fine.

as for your record, as long as its not a federal offense after 6 months to a year you can pay to have it removed off your record, which when you get out of college and start job searching may be a good idea.
As for the judge lowering your fine they may swap community service hours for amounts taken off or ask politely for a payment plan, most judges will take that into consideration.
Your best bet is to dress nicely, be polite and respectible in court, tell the judge your situation with college, and that you weren't even thinking. then your judge will probably work something out with you.

that would be a lie. he was thinking, but he was drunk so his thinking was altered. it is his own damn fault for getting drunk underage and then trying to get into a bar with a fake ID. this dude needs to man up to the consequences of his retard actions and learn from it so as to not be this stupid again.

you got an underage as a freshman in college....and now you have an $800.00 fine for trying to get into a bar with a fake ID, knowing very well that if you get caught you can get into a lot of trouble...hmm...

as much as i hate cops and i do hate them a lot, you were asking for it. this is your fault. i mean, i would think you would learn after the first time with the underage. i am 21 years old, soon to be 22, and i've done many illegal things. a lot of them. but you have to be smarter than in your case my friend. i never had a fake id because A) i didn't want to risk the chances of getting into trouble which are way higher than you think B) drugs were way better than going to some bar and drinking. hahahahahaha.

it sucks you got the fine, but it could have been worse. i knew a kid who went to jail for two months in philly because he had a fake id. they told him it was false impersonation. so, the only person to blame is yourself. and the fact that you were a guy may or may not have had something to do with it. i went out with a friend who was underage and when they swiped the card that was obviously not here, they took the id, told her she had to leave and that was that. so don't play the gender card. it doesn't work.

that's one person's experience. not everyone's. do you personally know every female cop? no.

you don't think a whole lot about gender, yet you say that all girl cops are way more likely to give you a ticket.

while i have no right to tell you what to believe, you are a woman. to discredit other women and to say that "all female cops are this way", seems a bit...irrational to me? such things allow other people, namely men, to also discredit woman as well. i'm not saying you should go march in the feminist pride parade, but maybe you should care about gender because it is still an issue. yes, it's true i believe that gender is a social construct that we must move away from, women's issues and feminism is still also important.

go to the city offices for your city or any that are close to you (mine isn't the one I lived in or the one I just moved to) and go to the parks and recreation department and find out if they have any after school programs like that.
