I was in attendance at the Something Corporate (http://www.somethingcorporate.com), Hidden In Plain View (http://www.hiddeninplainview.com), Straylight Run (http://www.straylightrun.com) and The Academy Is (http://www.theacademyrock.com) show last night in Omaha, Nebraska which was sold out and moved to a larger venue. Something Corporate played an unreleased b-side from North that was called "Watch The Sky" which is available for download here (http://www.soco-online.net). They opened with "Cavanaugh Park" and closed with "Hurricane" and did no encore. If anyone wants to know what songs they did or didn't play to give you a clue as to what kidn of setlist they are goign with before they hit your area, then ask away and I'll let you know. It was the first headlining show they had ever done in Nebraska if anyone cares.

I love that song! I hope they play it in DC.

They should have taken "Space" off of NORTH and put "Watch The Sky" in its place.

The Academy Is... was probably my favorite band of the night. I had seen all the other before though and I'm not much of a Something Corporate fan.

the b-sides from the japanese version should have been put on the album. i didn't really like north that much, but these b-sides are really good.

Encores are overrated now. 99% of the encores I've encountered are all planned prior to the show, eveyone should know not to leave when the houselights are still off. A true encore would be cool, if clubs didn't kick the kids out for Dancers to come in soon, then the kids would have enough time to really chant and get the bands attention.

It was interesting, because during The Academy Is..., no one was moving around much at all, not exactly getting into it. Me and two other guys were going hog-wild for them, but that was about it.

No dude....its still a bad place....we just occasionally get a couple shows a year. Nebraska still blows...all the Saddle Creek bands can't get out of here fast enough. A few decent bands might start out here but they always get out as soon as possible if they are planning on making a career out of music.

The Academy Is was really good as was the entire show...I just wish I would have known more of their songs but most people seemed really into them and HIPV which suprised me because usually if the people around here don't know bands that well and they dont get raido airplay they tend to shut them out at a show. I knew "The Academy Is" was good but they have even more potential than I originally thought.

Anyone know how long Andrew from Soco's hair has been that short and dyed black?

I would like to know the set-list for SoCo

I can piece together a little

Cavanaugh Park
I Woke Up in A Car
Me and the Moon
21 and Invincible
Straw Dog
Watch the Sky
Only Ashes
The Astronaut
Konstantine
If U C Jordan
Space
Down
Punk Rock Princess
Fall
Hurricane

Highlights for me included my two favorite songs "Only Ashes" and "Hurricane"

It was interesting, because during The Academy Is..., no one was moving around much at all, not exactly getting into it. Me and two other guys were going hog-wild for them, but that was about it.

I thought people were pretty receptive of The Academy is for these parts. Ive seen many excellent bands mercifully booed around these parts.

It was like that when I saw them on November 15.

I was at House of Blues in Chicago when they played on Sunday. They also played "Watch the Sky". They NEVER do encores. Andrew has quit explaining it during the shows, but he says they're bullshit and everyone knows they'll come out and do more songs. He's up front about it and leaves little to the imagination.

The Academy Is was good. Straylight Run was awesome. Good show.

Yeah I saw that comparison too. Although with significantly less mic twirling. I loved their show but what is up with skinny dudes wearing shirts 3 sizes too small. He was figiting with off an on and it bugged me. And as a rather skinny dude I know you have to try REALLY hard to find a shirt that is too small. Other than that I really see "The Academy Is" has having a really good shot at becoming a household name.

This show also had one of the strangest moments I have ever seen at a concert. During the beginning of HIPV's set some fat shirtless guy in a Luchadores Mexican Wrestler mask came running out on the stage for a few seconds. I was baffled and in awe at the same time. Brilliant.

Also the lead singer of The Academy Is called Joe Reo from HIPV "the Ashton Kutcher of rock" for some reason.

I wish that the Fall Out Boy/Midtown/The Academy Is show coming up in April would be at Sokol instead of the Ranch Bowl.

At the last HIPV show i went to Joe said theyd play An American Classic only if they got an encore. After the show, house lights went on, people left, and me and my friends chanted like crazy and they played An American Classic to a substantially smaller group of people. It was kind of refreshing.

He said that at both the shows I went to in November. And Joe then called him the something- of rock and roll, I can't remember. Cute though.

NOTE: If anybody's seeing the show at The Rave/The Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee on Friday, go upstairs to the merch booth and sneak into the balcoony section before they open the doors downstairs. You can easily get the the front row by going there. I've done it numerous times.
