Sage Francis. It definitely was Sage Francis. He talks about being straight edge, and frequently talks about his emotional problems. I'd check him out even if it isn't who you're talking about, he's a great artist.

it was most likely XROTX who is now called twig courage. He didn't want to be considered just a straight edge rapper as it narrows down who he's directing his songs to and who the demographic of his listeners is.

I'd say most of the artists I've heard are on some concious hip hop helpin people stuff. But if you don't like straight edgers and you don't like rap. You won't like straight edge rap! Duh!
