To Live and Die in Dixie is pretty funny (mmmmmm....popsicles.)
the Petoria one
and the one where Peter goes to the Pawtucket Patriot brewery (for some reason I laughed for 5 minutes when I realized Charlie Bucket and Grandpa Joe were standing in the room just blinking as Pawtucket Pat sang)

Doctor: Mayor West, you have Lymphoma.
Mayor: Oh My.
Doctor: Probably from rolling around in that Toxic waste. What in God's name were you trying to prove?
Mayor: I was trying to gain super powers.
Doctor: Well that's just silly.

Family Guy - Brian: Portrait of a Dog
Synopsis
Peter persuades Brian to swallow his pride and enter a dog show to win some extra cash. But when they argue over a trick gone bad, Brian decides he's had enough of being a second-class citizen. His struggle to assert his civil rights lands him on death row at the pound, where he discovers every dog has his day

05/02/05, 09:05 AM
i was pretty dissapointed with Family Guy, which is like my favorite show. I felt they stooped way too low during it, the Passion of the Christ 2 plot wasn't funny at all, Jesus saying "That's what my ex-wife said" - wtf? not funny. There was just way too much religous and political humor. If I wanted that, I'd watch South Park. Additionally, there was no quagmire, cleveland, or Joe, which I found weird. Hilarious at parts and still a great show, but a big big big letdown for me.
American Dad is terrible and shouldn't last more than 5 episodes. The characters just plain suck.
Pat Marquez
05/02/05, 09:12 AM
The new Family Guy was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing, all the one liners were amazing.
How can you guys hate American Dad? "SWEET SEAN HANNITY" .. that shit is golden man. "OF COURSE I LOVE BRIT HUME" ..
Darren McLeod
05/02/05, 02:05 PM
I thought FG was great... I didn't find they stooped low with religious humor... PotC2 seemed funny to me. I guess it's just cause I always found it weird that they'd pair Jackie Chan, a great martial arts guy, with Chris Tucker... I just found them mocking that. The "that's what my ex-wife said" i just took it as a commentary on the "cashing in on Jesus" with nonsense so to speak, because Jesus was never stated to have been married, unless they were referencing The Da Vinci Code, and all those people who now consider themselves theologists for having read it.
I really like Family Guy's religious humor... my personal favorites ever were probably the Jesus golfing bit (the fact that he was employee of the week was funny too), the "Is this really the blood of Christ" part, and when Peter's dad said something about "Tambourine shaking Baptists". Even though I'm Catholic, I still find their jokes about Catholicism extremely funny.
The Jughead bit in the new episode was absolutely hilarious. As was the Pinnochio
I'm torn on American Dad. I still don't really like most of the characters except for Stan and Steve, and sometimes they have really funny things... like the Asian kid having a closet full of video cameras, but sometimes it just seems like it's trying to be funny and failing miserably.
Hilikus

I thought that Family Guy was going to be horrible but luckily its not and is the same old Family Guy i have always loved and adored. I started to watch American Dad but it was just to horrible. I turned it off halfway through the show. It is just Family Guy without anything funny in it.

For some insane reason FOX blacked out from 9 to 9:30 last night. I had set my VCR to tape it because I watch Desperate Housewives religiously every Sunday. I played it back, and I got a blue screen. Another great FG moment I didn't see posted here:
"Guys, what you're all forgetting is, if you don't want to go to war, that means you're gay."
"I want to go to war!"
"Me too"
"I WAS THE FIRST ONE WHO WANTED TO GO TO WAR!"
I thought that was one of the better taste "gay" jokes I've seen on TV... not making fun of gays themselves, but rather the homophobia that other men have.

The first two episodes were pretty weak, particularly the first one which was neither funny nor original (and very dated).....but the third one, although not up to par with the older episodes, did show that Seth still has it....and hopefully gave us a glimpse of things to come...
I'd say the thing that surprised me the most was how good American Dad is, and how much more it reminds me of the original Family Guy, then the new Family Guy does.
radiofriendly
06/03/05, 07:10 AM
I think the first two episodes kind of shook the dust off the series. i wasn't expecting it to just jump back in the saddle and own. there were still funny parts. i loved the third episode...a lot. i think i may have stood up and cheered when the chicken attacked him. they also brought all of the supporting cast back like Quagmire and Joe and Bonnie. that made it a lot better. i think it will get back to the roots in time.

I don't know which one it was, but I know it was from the new season, it had one of the funniest things I have ever heard...
God - (after setting the bar on fire) Jesus!
Jesus - (runs in) What?
God - Start up the Escalade, we're getting out of here!
It was something close to that. I couldn't stop laughing. So far I enjoy the new season.

AMERICAN DAD/FAMILY GUY (FOX) - FOX is moving forward with 13 additional episodes of each of the Seth MacFarlane-produced animated comedies. The network had previously committed to 19 episodes of "American Dad" and 22 episodes of "Family Guy," bring each series' total to 32 and 35 episodes respectively. The news comes as little surprise for both series as FOX asked for eight additional scripts of "Dad" back in November (read the story) while 20th Century Fox Television committed to "Guy's" full 35-episode production run as part of its initial revival (FOX simply picked up its option to air the remaining 13 installments). Overall, enough episodes of both series should be in the can to last through the first part of the 2006-07 season.

really! that's interesting. you're the first person that i've seen say that. i mean, i definitely have known people who say that they've enjoyed ALL of them, but not that they didn't like the first two.
whatever. comedy's not a science. i'm glad people are at least enjoying the show now that it's back. there were definitely a lot of people who were skeptical about it coming back and either trying to hard to be all "WE'RE BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER" and falling on their face, or that they just couldn't keep with the times (which is pretty much impossible, seeing as the [adult swim] run is still doing amazing for them).

Well, if they release it straight to dvd they do not have to apply for a rating. I'm guessing it it will be rated R and if it was it would be shutting out a huge part of its audience. so if they release it on dvd it is unrated and pretty much anyone can watch it. Also it is also a great deal cheaper to do it this way. however if this does well enough i bet there will be a theratical release in the future

Okay, here's the story. We posted information on the third volume of Family Guy and then started receiving emails asking about the last 3 episodes on the volume. Those episodes make up the upcoming direct-to-DVD movie. We contacted Fox and asked if the direct-to-DVD episodes would be the ones on the volume 3 set and were told "no." They were right; those episodes won't appear on the volume 3 set, but they supplied the wrong episode titles in the first place, so here's the corrected info, which was supplied by a well-placed friend. These three episodes will air in September.

that reminds me of a similar issue:
remember back in 2002 when people were afraid to make any reference to the World Trade Center or terrorism or any acts of violence? in fact Spielberg digitally replaced the guns in E.T. with radios...
anyway, i get a kick out of the fact that now everyone is psyched to see shows about mad bombers and terrorists living in American suburbs.

Nope, although they did move the original episode The Perfect Castaway (http://www.planet-familyguy.com/pfg/episodes.php?a=capsule&episode=67), they are replacing it with another new episode Peter's Got Woods (http://www.planet-familyguy.com/pfg/episodes.php?a=capsule&episode=69).
