when in the hell are we getting a new episode!
That's one of the reasons why I stopped watching. They would never show new episodes for the longest times. I think it's gonna be new this sunday though, that's what the commercial said.

That Zune joke...way to far man...I'm angry...
I guess it's been a good funny episode, but plotwise it's not so good...not a fan of the whole, "Bonnie is no longer pregnant" thing. The Christian Bale thing also lasted to long

This show is growing progressively worse with every episode. If you can't come up with ideas for a 20 minute show and have to make up for it with a not-funny music gag that you've already used TWICE, it's probably time to get some new writers.

Tonight's episode will be about as memorable as King Harvest. The Conway Twitty bit was not only too long, it was unfunny. Who gives a shit about OJ anymore? Brian and Stewie had a nice back and forth but that was about it. Overall, not a good episode at all.

I don't believe that nonsense. Not to be like a dick, but I wanna hear from the horse's mouth (MacFarlane's) if this is in fact a "lost episode". Even if it is, 2007 is still too long afterwards to make a WHOLE episode over OJ. OJ jokes can still be funny, but don't give the guy a whole episode. Also, him killing people at the end = unfunny and predictable.

I don't think that "lost epsiode" bit was meant to be taken serious, it was more to cover the fact that since the epsiode was scripted OJ has been convicted of another crime and is currently in prison. Due to the strike last year and a shortened season, Family Guy is back logged with episodes. This was probably written when OJ first reentered the media attention a year ago and their just now getting around to air.

Just saw last week's episode, "FOX-y Lady". Definite improvement from that awful "The Juice is Loose" episode. Not as funny as it could've been but had some really great parts. The entire "Handi-Quacks" storyline was awesome. Meg being a "shitty" writer and Peter and Chris' discussions were fantastic. The Fred Savage bit at the end was funny as well.
I'm sick of their running gags like tripping and falling and making that noise over and over. Funny the first, nice throwback the second, and just dumb the third. While I'm on the subject, The Giant Chicken needs to go. Apparently, they don't know which gags work and which ones run old after the first time.

Yeah those gags are way funny.
I don't know they don't really bother me either way. I just like the ends when they randomly go back to what they where doing all fucked up.

Just watched Sunday's episode, and wow, best episode in the past 2 weeks. Had me laughing from start to end. That episode should be what the base the rest of the season around. Hilarious plot with Meg and Stewie. Rob Lowe and Adam West? Hilarious. I couldn't be happier with that episode. Very refreshing.

I think its the reverse with the its cool to hate. It has nothing to do about being, I enjoyed the first three seasons, but as soon as it came back it went quickly down hill. from a writers stand point of view, the show (in its newer seasons) is not very well written, and heavily relies on gags to distract viewers from the one dimensional characters and predicatable story lines. If its for a cheap laugh, whatever thats cool, but calling the show genius and brilliantly written is a huge overstatement and is not very well thought out.

You preferred season 7 to 8? I thought season 8 was the best since season 5. I don't think the new season will affect the show for me, as far as I'm considered it's a spin off. It won't be in Sacred Heart and most of the original cast will be leaving, that doesn't mean it will be bad but it's not really the same show. I'll be rating the new season on it's own, I won't even be comparing it to the other seasons.

Some of the worst writing I have ever witnessed. I get it - the plots are supposed to be stupid, but a show should contain some real plot, not just rip someone else off, call it a parody and do it every fucking week.

Wow! I was sure nobody would hate this episode. The Disney universe was, imo, one of the funniest scenes this show has had since its renewal.
But yes, South Park >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Family Guy. It's basically an understood fact.
The idea was funny, but the execution came too late after they had already run the entire plot's joke into the ground. Besides, I didn't really think the pie song was very clever. The animation was amusing, but there's nothing this show does that sets it apart from anything else MacFarlane does, nor any other animated series'.
At least with Futurama, Groening treated it differently -- Family Guy all feels like it's just Seth and his buddies making idiotic jokes and trying to develop plots around the jokes over the characters.

By characters, you mean, Peter, Stewie and Brian, right? Pretty much 98% of the show is the characters voiced by MacFarlane. Other than Lois becoming a Fox News anchorwoman, I can't quite remember the last time she, Meg, or Chris got something.

More like creating three-dimensional characters. There's a difference with what MacFarlane does -- he just writes jokes and assigns it to someone. They're simply caricatures, which relies on no variance or anything to really define your show. That's pretty much what killed this show for me after three seasons -- it was just running around in circles without any real point.
I look at it a little differently and perhaps harsher because I hope to write for television and film someday, and what MacFarlane does is ultimately hack work, and it sucks he keeps this all up without any real talent. He's better off sticking to those Youtube cartoons that play like the random jokes thrown in on FG. They are much funnier by themselves and require no character development.

No, I totally see that.
I think another thing that hurts this show is longevity, or lack thereof. For example, I wouldn't laugh at that Lauren Conrad episode in three years, because she wouldn't be as relevant. FG needs to ease up on the current pop culture references to an extent.

Actually both of them have had the main ploline recently. Meg's was becoming a a Christian and trying to convert Brian and Chris was dating Connie and becoming a jock.
I do kind of wish Lois had more prominent roles but could give a fuck less that Meg and Chris get less screen time because besides being the punchline they've never been that interesting. Well Chris occasionaly been good but Meg has always fucking sucked
Pretty sure next week's episode is Lois-centered
Turns out she's Jewish
I thought the best part of the Disney bit was the reference to his Antisemitism

I agree for the most part except I love the call backs. Imo the only thing that has improved since its been renewed is the animation quality and Stewie's newfound gayness. His attempts to kill Lois and take over the world never did much for me but his nonstop gayness always cracks me up
I've been watching Family Guy since sixth grade when it premiered after the Super Bowl and I still have a soft spot for it even though the quality has declined. It's still quite funny ad nowhere as bad as the haters make it out to be.
I think the chicken fights annoy me so much that in turn I can't stand any of them.

Next week sounds like a good one. Of course, there's a decent chance the writers could squander the episode, despite its potential.

I absolutely love the chickenfights. Also the Golden Ticket music/ banging knee thing. As soon as I saw that music and Lois running I knew they were bringing make one of my fav Family Guy jokes
Unlike some people who view the callbacks as lazy writing I see them as inside jokes aimed at longtime fans.
I feel like Family Guy (not so much American Dad, which, if you are looking for more storybased plots, is where you should go) hasn't found the happy medium between inside jokes and beating a loooooong dead horse. The 80's Episode they did where Peter marries Molly Ringwald was a good example of just playing to the longtime fans, when Peter bumps into the Chicken, the Chicken gets pissed, and a buddy says 'Don't worry about it, when are you gonna see him again?' No long, played out fight scene needed, joke delivered.
