I was disappointed by the lack of chickenfight in that episode.
This is why no one can ever win when writing a TV show, (or really anything for that matter) because everyone has different ideas of what's funny.

Other than a couple of funny scenes, this episode was remarkably weak. Turned into The Peter, Brian, and/or Stewie Show yet again.

You are the worst person I know. You constantly hit on your best friend's wife. The man pays for your food and rescued you from certain death and this is how you repay him? And to add insult to injury you defacate all over his yard. And you're such a sponge! You pay for nothing. You always say,"Oh, I'll get you later!" but later never comes. And what really bothers me is you pretend you're this deep guy who loves women for their souls when all you do is date bimbos. Yeah I date women for their bodies but at least I'm honest about it! I don't buy them a copy of Catcher in the Rye and then lecture them with some seventh grade interpretation on how Holden Caulfield is some profound intellectual. He wasn't! He was a spoiled brat and that's why you like him so much. He's you. God you're pretentious! And you delude yourself by thinking you're some great writer even though you're terrible. You know I should have known Cheryl Tiggs didn't write me that note. She would have known there's no "a" in the word "definite". And I think what I hate most about you is your textbook liberal agenda. How we should (airquotes)"legalize pot, man" How big business is crushing the underclass. How homelessness is the biggest tragedy in America. Well what have YOU done to help? I work down at the soup kitchen Brian. Never seen YOU down there. You want to help? Grab a ladle! And by the way? Driving a Prius doesn't make you Jesus Christ! Oh wait! You don't believe in Jesus Christ or any religion for that matter because "Religion is for idiots!" Well who the hell are you to talk down to anyone?! You failed college twice, which isn't nearly as bad as your failure as a father. How's that son of yours you never see? But you know what? I can forgive all of it. All of it, if you weren't. Such. A BORE. That's the worst of it Brian. You're just a big, sad, alcoholic, bore.

The funniest part
I have seen

Is when
He is at the bar
without his memory
and his friends tell him that he used to go there to drink all the time and lift up girls tops.
Then he goes off the screen
and you hear

then peter walks back on screen and says

I think the only time FG got me mad was Brian (my favorite character) having this holier-than-thou attitude towards all things religious, conservative, and the like. He essentially expressed the same type of elitism (for lack of a better term) that the Christians and Republicans were/are criticized for. That plays a huge part in why I fucking love this thing of beauty.

Seriously. That might be my favorite episode ever because of those last 15 minutes. I remember discussing that episode with friends and I seemed to be the only one that liked that episode a lot. It's good to know others love it, as well.
It's basically exactly the same with me.

I've always related to Brian more than anyone else in the show. It's been less since the show returned from cancellation since Brian became less of a voice of reasoning for the Griffin family and more of a pothead who held his political beliefs in such high regard above everyone else. Long story short, those last 15 minutes of that episode reminded me why I love that character so much and why I relate to that specific character as much as I do. Plus I liked the unorthodox serious tone of the episode that I wish they'd do more often. Not to mention the no cutaway thing was interesting and felt like it paid off. I really love depressing shows and movies for some reason. The only thing I didn't like about that episode were the random clips at the end.

Oh God, YES! The next (Christmas) episode is a Stewie/Brian one. :excited:

And it looks like a "Road To..." episode. Awesome blossom.

I was hoping it would be a Road To episode, those are always brilliant

All the proof you need that MacFarlane hasn't totally lost it.

An hour long S/B episode. This has so much potential to kick ass.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode. Actually enjoyed American Dad, as well. The Brian/Stewie episodes rarely disappoint, especially if they're a Road To...episode. The musical numbers always seem to be a notch higher than what usually makes its way into the show. It's episodes like this that keep me watching the show. Although I didn't really care for the parts with MacFarlane's dad. Other than that, great episode.

Dead on. Though Seth's dad wasn't terrible, just a bit unnecessary.

Exactly. It just felt like it didn't really add anything to the overall story to me.

I think if he was just in the opening segment and nothing else, that would've been more than okay.
Everything else ruled. I really like that they're continuing with the "Quagmire hating Brian" thing. Though it would be better were it not for honest mistakes and things that truly are his fault.

Heh. I really enjoyed the episode where Quagmire went off on why he hated Brian. That and the one where Brian accidentally had sex with Quagmire's dad. I don't know. I kind of feel like Quagmire already has enough honest reasons to hate Brian. Things that Brian accidentally walks into seems like the best route to take.

Yeah, I remember Quagmire's Dad. I just think it would've been a bit better of Quagmire knew Brian didn't know at the time. It's also a little deceitful of Dan/Ida to not say anything about her being a post-op, you know?
