Yeah, I remember Quagmire's Dad. I just think it would've been a bit better of Quagmire knew Brian didn't know at the time. It's also a little deceitful of Dan/Ida to not say anything about her being a post-op, you know?
Better how? Like morally or gag-wise? I was pretty happy with how the news was broken to Brian, the epic barf scene, and the ending.

Loved the vomiting, and the "Hey... I fucked your dad". I can't help but feel it could've gone at least a little more smoothly than it did.

Anybody got the new Family Guy Star Wars DVD? It's so much funnier than the "Empire" one. There's even a blink 182/Sum 41 joke in there.
The only thing I didn't like about that new episode was the cancer thing with Quagmire's niece or whatever. I have a high tolerance for offensive things but that wasn't funny at all to me.

I thought It's a Trap! was the weakest Family Guy Star Wars parody of the three.

Really? I thought the first one was hilarious, but then I didn't laugh too much at all during the "Empire Strikes Back" parody. I think I just enjoyed the cultural references (unrelated to Star Wars or Family Guy) more in It's a Trap! than the others, so that made all the difference.

I thought Blue Harvest was the best and enjoyed Something, Something, Something Dark Side quite a bit. Seems like I enjoyed the second one more than others. I didn't laugh hardly at all during It's A Trap!. It was pretty disappointing to me.

Have yet to see IAT.

Upon second viewing, I'll agree partly on this. It wasn't the kid having cancer that bothered me as much as Quagmire having even more reasons to hate Brian, this time it's something that isn't even really his fault. Call me crazy, but I think there's a possibility that this is all in the effort to get people to sympathize with Brian.
Another repeated-viewing complaint has to be with the home invasion. It wasn't even funny, just left me feeling rather iffy. Even Seth can come up ways that a home invasion could be hilarious WITHOUT nearly bludgeoning a woman in front of her daughter.

I don't know man. I would have never told you before the game that we'd sack Brady 5 times and intercept him once. I'm floored at the performance of a team I deep down thought would lose by at least 14.

I've kinda liked the last few times Family Guy tried to be serious, but both times that come to mind involve Brian (being suicidal in Brian & Stewie and willing to give up his kidney and his life in A New Kidney in Town). But South Park is South Park, you know? It's been my favorite show for over ten years. Of course whatever they do is going to be better. And Bloody Mary is such a fantastic episode, but for Family Guy last night's wasn't too bad.

It wasn't bad, but it definitely pales in comparison. I preferred early Family Guy when it got serious, usually involving character development instead of actual issues. That's really what South Park has been doing best for years.

I disagree. A lot of the recent episodes (aside from a few really good ones) had completely shallow plots so it forced the characters to resort to very random humor. Most of the old episodes had more solid plots that put the characters in funny situations and opened them up for situational or topical jokes.
Like with tonight's episode. I didn't actually watch it because the plot started out so boring with him trying to get that shirt that I just quit paying attention. I didn't get mad and change the channel or anything, it just didn't hold my attention, which is something I used to never have to worry about with this show.
Still though.... I'll re-watch it eventually just because haha.

Really think you should do that. There are plenty of FG eps where I see myself enjoying repeated viewings after initially disliking it. And vice-versa. I think this was a good episode, just far from what it coulda-woulda-shoulda been.

I was talking in general about the plots of the last few seasons. This season has actually been more positive than the couple ones before it.... The episode where Meg fell in love with Joe was awful though.
Like I said though, I only watched the first 7 or 8 minutes of it (still a big chunk of the episode) which was all about the shirt. It lost my attention.

Hey you,
So you're in line for the Closed Beta of Family Guy Online. Thanks for signing up. Gotta ask though - did you read the Terms of Use? The Privacy Policy? I mean actually read them? You didn't, did you? You really have no idea what is in there, but you accepted it anyway.
Don't worry about it. It's all pretty standard stuff, except for the part about harvesting your reproductive cells for a top secret government project to make half-horse half-human super-soldiers.
We're glad you're aboard. Watch for more announcements soon!

Yeah I saw that haha. "Worst... cameo... ever". The best part of that episode was Harry Knowles fighting that other fat guy over a corn dog. How can you NOT root for a guy that looks like this:
http://www.romm.org/conv08/20080703conv013harry.jpg
On the other end of the spectrum, Family Guy is going downhill. That 2-part episode where everyone in town is looking for the killer in James Woods' mansion was very unfunny to be honest. Only bits I really laughed at were Patrick Stewarts cameo as a cat (although it wasn't a shocking cameo because he's in American Dad all the time), Derek "holding up the Hollywood sign" and Jillian laughing at the blue pony in her own thought bubble. Not great moments but still the funniest, imo.
Cleveland Show is actually a little more decent than what I first expected, plus I can't stop singing "I have a mustache face" from the intro, so I'm enjoying that alot more than Family Guy. And, completely unrelated to anything to do with Seth MacFarlane, I'm completely in love with Bob's Burgers. Hilarious show.

Is it safe to assume that MacFarlane and Co. are taking note of how some of the more vocal fans aren't taking kindly to Meg being harassed to the extent that she has been, like with Brian and how he got put in his place?
Anyway, the fact that Meg decides that her taking the brunt of everything is for the greater good. seems a bit off. It also reminds me of this one episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Hal forgets Lois' birthday (different Lois than on FG, needless to day) and she drives off into what turns out to be a batting cage to vent. Hal confesses to her (and the viewers, by extension) that he and the boys AND "the system" would collapse if she wasn't there to order everyone around. Like that's gonna singlehandedly justify all the less-than-conventional ways Lois has handled her sons.

Well, the first question is how does Brian talk.
i guess if you're gonna overthink a cartoon, that would be a better starting point.

Family Guy has been terrible since it came back. Sorry, but it's true.

Family Guy has the capabilities to do a brilliant episodes, but feels like the writers do not care, and thinks their audience are a bunch of morons.

Yeah, the b-plot was the best part, but at the expense of Brian returning to being a fucking jackass.

The dolphin one and when Tucker gets back into acting were incredibly boring. My favorite episode is still when they go to the Twinkie factory, and the Stewie octopuses attacked the town after the guns were already burning.

I really get that feeling too. On that note, it's kind of weird that we haven't heard or seen anything about MacFarlane's Ted, which comes out in almost 4 months.

My guess is that its going to get delayed. We haven't even gotten a single official image or poster from the movie.

...and something tells me its better written than the last few episodes.
That was surprisingly not terrible. "Let's go before we lose our nerve, like Joe's legs" made me lawl.
