Never really liked this band. Really, really repetitive, if you ask me.

Not a freakish fan, but I enjoy them upon occasion. "Pinhead" is probably my favorite Ramones song.

I feel they certianly have their place in history, but they are the gods some fans make them out to be. Nevertheless, I love Sheena is a Punk Rocker.

That movie is so lame it's fun.

They're different bands. The Clash pushed themselves muscially where the Ramones pretty much milked the same chords for all they're worth. Both are great, but it's kind of weird to compare the Ramones to The Clash when you look at their catalogue as a whole.

The Ramones defined Punk for me. The Dead Milkmen, Angry Samoans, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and Diesel Boy are some of my favorite bands.

Yeah that's true. Guess what I was saying was that out of what most consider 'The Big 3' (The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols) the latter two never really appealed to me, for basically the reasons you've already stated. The Ramones always seemed very repetitive and uninteresting to me, whereas The Clash experimented with various genres and just made far better records in my opinion. But to each his own, and I'm sure this argument has been done to death so I apologize for bringing it up haha.

Oh I totally get what you mean. The thing is that 'The Big 3' really don't sound like eachother; The Clash were a great rock band, Ramones wrote good weird pop songs, and the Sex Pistols pretty much sucked musically (at least to me). The thing that a lot of people miss about the Ramones is that they were trying to recreate the pop songs of the '50s within the punk setting. You know, the whole idea that simple songs can be powerful. That's what I think is great about the Ramones.
But of course, The Clash is much better. ;-)

Great band. This thread reminded me I haven't watched Ramones Raw or End Of The Century in a long, long time. Gonna change that now.

No, it is kind of lame. I love it, but it's so damn cheesey in parts that I can hardly stand watching it.

If you don't like The Ramones, you don't like punk rock and you're a poseur.
If you don't like The Ramones, you don't like punk rock and you're a poseur.
Only Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, and Hunter S. Thompson have ever spoken truer words than this.

I mean, it even comes down to this, if someone I truly hate and despise turns out to like the Ramones, I hate them a little bit less.

If this is all this forum has to say about the Ramones, fuck everyone who posts on here. Except for the select few that I've already come to terms with not liking The Ramones. Other than that, get bent you nerd pussy poseur fucks. This band is more important to punk than ANY other punk band discussed on this board.

I wonder what T-bag will have to say in this thread.

The Clash suck. The first album was good. Give em enough rope was good. Everything else was radio rock. Radio rock is not punk. The ramones are punk. Except johnny. He was catholic.
