Bat For Lashes

Hey, I always come to this site for inspiration on what to buy next and I love it when you find an artist you really have an affinity with and people start recommending similiar artists who might interest you.

Anyway, I have never seen a review of Bat For Lashes awesome debut album 'Fur and Gold'. For anyone who hasn't heard it, it really is a hauntingly beautiful album, it has an individual beauty that always makes it stick out in my memory and draws me back to it time and time again for hundreds of wonderful rediscoveries. Bat For Lashes is the pseudonym of Natasha Khan and in my opinion she describes her own music best on her MySpace page with the phrase; "it's like hallowe'en when you were young".

Back to the point, does anyone know anything that sounds like her? I know people compare her to Bjork and Bush a lot and I begrudgingly agree that there are similarities but they arent what I am looking for, any help would be great!

I also have that album I picked it up just before they were nominated for the Mercury prize (when ever that was?)

As for recommendations have you heard Lykke Li at all? The Kills, they are a bit more "rock" orientated than Bat For Lashes and on the other end of the scale is She & Him who are more concentrated on folk and blues kinda sound.

Lykke Li I was already aware of but never really got into, I think she's someone you either really love or you're just not fussed over at all. I'll try the other two though, they sound promising.

Thanks severedlegface, I gave them all a good listening to and I have to say I am really annoyed I never found the Kills before now! They are excellent, great sound very unique and enjoyable.

She & Him are ok but their sound isn't distinct enough to jump out at me and make me want to buy an album and actually listen to 10+ tracks of theirs. Lykke Li is better than I remembered though but still a bit monotonous for my liking.
