Even though Sigur Ros was amazing, & I highly respect them; I am greatly disappointed that the Detroit show (probably the same as the rest of the US tour), was absolutely minimum as their shows go. Yes, it was my first time seeing them, yet I've been into them for many years. And most of all the online videos I have seen of their festivals and other concerts are absolutely different from that of their performance I saw last week (Sept. 23).

From almost everything I have seen from them online, they have a musician playing almost every sound you hear. As well as the marching band that comes through some of the songs. Yet, in Detroit, there was only 4 or 5 people on stage. I was greatly disappointed that the marching band wasn't there, the numerous other people that are usually on stage playing with them. I paid alot of money for these tickets, and alot of additional money to drive to Detroit.

First off, their performance was amazing, and I don't regret going to the show. BUT, I don't enjoying half of the song being playing to us, the audience on a laptop, like a stereo. When I do attend a show, especially Sigur Ros, I expect an attempt that every sound is being playing by a live musician.

I only wish they would have announced online BEFORE I bought the tickets that the "entire" band was not going to perform. I understand that they probably can't bring all the people that usually play with them at those festivals I've seen online. But again, they should have stated online, on their website and on ticketmaster that the Sigur Ros US tour was only going to be the 5 guys performing. I feel as if I have been mislead. I wished & I still wish to someday see Sigur Ros play a true performance like those I've seen online with tuns of people on stage, marching bands, and just absolutely mind-blowing.

Wow, I guess i'm sort of glad that I didn't end up going. I was contemplating for the longest time whether this was worth the drive and the money (since I'm away at school, and it was in the middle of the week). I'm studying in Germany next semester, so I'm hoping to make a trip during some time off to one of their shows over there.

I guess I would have assumed they wouldn't be able to go all out for the US tour though, that would be quite the production to be constantly putting on. I definitely understand where you're coming from though, don't get me wrong. I've heard people go as far as saying their shows are "life changing" or similar to a "religious experience", so i too would have high hopes.

youre an idiot. they did announce before that these shows would be Sigur Ros only, which consists of four people. the girls that play string and the the guys that play horns are not in the band. if youre such a huge fan, you should probably know that. i wrote a review of the show i went to. you can go look at that and see that i thought.

but how dare a band sound slightly different live than they do on cd! damn you creativity!

I was at the NYC stop of this tour, they were flawless. excellent as always. and yes before the tour they did announce it would only be the 4 key members.

Ya, I did say I was probably mislead. As I said, I thought they played shows like the countless videos they have online. None of those videos state other bands playing with them, hahha, ouch. some forum bullie. oh my. hahhaa, and I did say I like their show, I just don't enjoy a stereo playing over half of the music live to me. hahaa. calm down. anywho they were good, but they are not worth seeing with only four people playing... (just my opinion). toodles. I wonder how MGMT is live?

Wow, what a pretentious douchebag. You want a marching band? GO TO A PARADE! Sigur Ros has been touring with Anima (the string/horn ensemble) for many years, but they've just realized that they don't really need them. I'll admit there were a couple songs that felt a bit lacking (Hoppipola & Vid Spilum Endalaust) but I thought they were far more dynamic on stage than they were with Anima. They did state online that it would only be the four of them; I hope you don't go next time they tour so REAL sigur ros fans will have a better shot at getting seats.
