personally i've watched maybe half of those shows for more than one episode, it's a tough call tho, SNL while they've sucked for awhile now, still their late 70's stuff, and late 80's-mid 90's is classic(and of course anytime Walken has hosted), But even still, Monty Python's Flying Circus is just as legendary, and Mad TV killed most late 90's SNL, and All That will always be the funniest kids sketch show.
and of course in recent years Chapplle's Show comes to mind, at least the first season, which constantly had me in stitches, having to pick my jaw back up off the floor, and same goes w/Whitest Kid's U'Know, however, they have some pretty lame stuff too(but the edgy stuff is friggin edgy lol)

i gotta give it to wkuk.
true, they do have some way lame sketches, but the rest compensate excellently.

unfortunately, there's too much of SNL that has sucked, especially in the past few years.
and i've always hated madtv, for some reason.

as far as the most recent season goes, Part 3(of 4) in the Opus sketch is by far the funniest thing to me from the entire season, Tho the second part, where timmy's the kid, the language he uses at his mom goes past offensive and is just stupid, and i wasnt crazy about zach's screaming at God, but part 3 where trevor plays the devil is friggin hilarious, which i still quote constantly.

here it is if you wanna see it, its divided into parts 1&2 and 3&4, but if you wanna skip to the best part watch Part 3 lol

WKUK was fucking hilarious. I say was, because I don't get IFC. I gotta go with SNL though, because I am a huge fan of the rising stars on there. It's always been a classic, obviously, but Samberg, Forte, Meyers, Hader have really bright futures, even if the show isn't doing so great today.

Edit: Sentence fragment.

the opus is the sketch that got me into wkuk, cause a friend posted it in a myspace bulletin.
so fucking hilarious.
my friend and i still quote trevor's devil and zach's whole character.

i really wish they'd put season 2 out on dvd already...

Does Stella count as sketch comedy? I quote that show on a daily basis.

btw, who the fuck voted for Mad TV?

ForeverDelayed
09/30/08, 09:32 PM
Monty Python all the way. SNL in its prime was just about as good, but they've had way too many down times to win. In Living Colour was awesome, but not quite on the same level. Kids in the Hall had its moments. Chappelle's Show was brilliant, but I always saw it as more of a mix of sketch and standup and I wouldn't really compare it to the rest on the list. Never got into Mad TV at all, and I haven't really watched most of the others. Also, you forgot The State, anybody remember it? "I wanna dip my balllllllls in it!!!"

In order to make himself appear more important, a miller/commoner lied to the king (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King) that his daughter could spin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_wheel) straw (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw) into gold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold). The king called for the girl, shut her in a tower room with straw and a spinning wheel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_wheel), and demanded that she spin the straw into gold by morning, for three nights, or be executed. Some versions say that if she failed, she would be skewered and then fricasseed like a pig, while others take a less graphic approach and say that the girl is locked in the dungeon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon) forever. She had given up all hope, when a dwarf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf) appeared in the room and spun straw into gold for her in return for her necklace; then again the following night for her ring. On the third (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_three_%28writing%29) night, when she had nothing with which to reward him, the strange creature spun straw into gold for a promise that the girl's first-born child would become his.
The king was so impressed that he let the miller's daughter marry his son, the prince, but when their first child was born, the dwarf returned to claim his payment: "Now give me what you promised". The queen was frightened and offered him all the wealth she had if she could keep the child. The dwarf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf) refused but finally agreed to give up his claim to the child if the queen could guess his name in three days. At first she failed, but before the second night, her messenger overheard the dwarf hopping about his fire and singing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singing). While there are many variations in this song, the 1886 translation by Lucy Crane reads

I chose Mr. Show because that's the only one that I own on DVD. However, Whitest Kids U Know is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Voted for Chappelle's Show as it's the only one i've seen, let alone heard of. Not sure why you've substituted the word "USA's" for the word "worlds" in the topic's title. Like your sports, nobody but Americans watch American comedy, so why, as ever do the yanks presume America = the world.

Sorry, but it's just ignorant. My real vote is for The Fast Show.

Any SNL before or around 2000, was great. But In Living Color is definitely my favorite. They had fly girls and the sketches with Jim Carrey in the background. That's all I need.

Canadian/American whatever. Canadians are just wannabe Americans anyway. It's also a probably a good reason why i've not seen most of them anyway. For such a big country, Canada is like the quietest nation on Earth. Do they actually do anything?

And of course Brits like Monty Python. We just don't worship it like Americans, and most of us realise it's just wackiness-for-wackiness' sake severely lacking in the joke department. And isn't it like 30 years older than the rest of those listed. We have made sketch shows since you know.
