I got a chance to see this movie a month or so ago and I just wanted to tell everyone that it is going to be a fantastic movie. It's really disturbing and scary and will be known as one of the best thrillers in twenty years. Sets up the next two or three films well. Kicked everyones ass in the theater.

I am working on a review now and I'll try and wrap it up in a bit and post it.

I wonder how far they'll milk this series. Ever since they made money and upped the budget, qualitys gone down. First movie, 1,000,000 budget, awesome. Everything else, not as great.

Well with Saw V it's like they got Hollywoods greatest crew and cast to work on it. It will go down as one of the best of the series for sure. That last Saw movie had our entire audience scared out of our minds and Saw V was just as scary if not more. I got a free Saw V poster for watching it.

I found the first one to be far from awesome as well - after following the hype before the release I was really let down. Cary Elwes made me want to kill myself as well. Good twist, but it was average. For some reason I've kept watching them cause I'm a sick fuck

thats unfortunate. how long will the torture on the audience last? i mean, the last two or three were done just to make money. i enjoyed the first film and only made it through half of the second movies terrible plot. i dont understand how these still make money. at least saw had danny glover, carl elwes, and michael emerson in them. now they dont even have legit actors/actresses.
at least these are better than hostel.

i like the movies, they are entertaining, but the plot sucks hardcore. they are making the "twists" to predictable... i guessed the outcome of IV in like 25 mins... it was very predictable. 3 was dumb. 2 was decent. but all the twists arent twists at all. but i think its entertaining, just not WHOA like the first

eric matthews is still alive and hooked to some ice contraption... black swat guy is the one playing the game... he cares to much and has to let people learn to play the game... he opens the door and a block of ice crushes erics head. theres another guy hooked up to a machine with eric matthews... if eric dies, the other dude gets electrocuted... he does... black guy had to let people play the game, now two people are dead who shouldnt have been dead had black guy followed his rules

not sure what that is. is that from when he was in new kids on the block (who are making a comeback i hear)

that doesnt bother me... any bone-breaking in general gets to me... i had an ankle injury so bad that i needed three ankle reconstruction surgeries. if you would have seen my ankle (and i was already uneasy with bone breaking) you would have vomited. its just nothing a human should witness

i stepped off my two foot high porch and landed in a divet in the grass and just SNAP. broke... i was on crutches for six months, had a 4 inch syndesmosis screw put in my ankle along with plates and screws put in it. have a bitchin 7 inch scar on my right leg from the surgeries. it didnt hurt bc i didnt break the skin, i thought it was just a SEVERE!!! sprain

total freak accident... couldnt sue the landlord (not that i would have, but my mom was trying to so i shot down my moms statement that it was my neglagence since we had stairs on the porch at my apt for college) its just a freak accident. mind blowing too...
whats really scary is that i had to keep my foot elevated for a week after the accident and could only put it down for bathroom breaks and showers. well after that week we went for a check up and shit. well the skin and tissues of my leg started to die really bad. the doctor told me that he was actually planning on amputating my leg bc the tissues were deteriorating. luckily he delayed the surgery by 5 days and it started to heal... but could you imagine having to lose a leg over something so freakish?

wow it got that bad?! thats insane. yeah that would have sucked so bad. that must have been so boring, spending a week, not being able to do anything. i never would have thought that a little accident like that could have become so serious. it goes to show that you gotta be careful cos you never know whats going to happen. i mean, ive done things similar to that many times. it could just as easily have happened to me. were you freaking out when they said they might have to amputate. i had this real bad chemical burn on my legs just last year and they were oozing all this shit and were infected and stuff and i was freaking out they were going to have to amputate. and then the doc at the hospital jokingly said they would and i nearly had a heart attack.

nope... it woulda been my first time. jesse ended up coming back to new orleans with kevin devine i believe, but i have to see BRAND NEW... i believe only seeing jesse first would deteriorate the experience of seeing brand new when they come back (hoping)
but my friend at the time did call me when they played "you wont know" which is an ear-al orgasm

The (very brief) synopsis is:
Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.
Jigsaw will probably continue to be seen in flashbacks, just like in Saw IV.

^ doubt it. Saw will probobly have i'm guessing a few more installments. I know Lionsgate Films and Twisted Pictures have contracts with the first 6 films, but some small studio will probobly make more and release them direct-to DVD. And hey if not, there are all ready so many Saw rip off's now a days... Are You Afraid? Breathing Room, there are a couple more. But I have a feeling we'll be seeing more Saw and Saw influenced films for the next couple years.

Like New Line Cinema with Freddy, Lionsgate is the house that Saw made. They won't hand it off to some small studio after; they'll keep pumping out useless sequels until they stop making money. Twisted Films knows better than to give the franchise off to another company, and Lionsgate knows they don't want to let their precious Saw series go.
It took five years. Five years to turn Lionsgate into a small company who brought out films such as Happiness and Cube (when the company who brought them out before went under) into a powerhouse that could stand-up with most major studios. They brought us the new Rambo, and gave us all the shitty Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy films we always see. They helped out the atrocious 8 Films To Die For and are preparing the Ghosthouse film series for release next week (including the great Dance of the Dead). They are even the people who brought out Are You Afraid.
They aren't going to allow the Saw franchise to be handed off if it (unforunately) continues.
These movies sucked after Saw II, but I'm really curious to see if they can close the story up without it being a complete shit-fest.
Saw III was one of the most boring, contrived movies I've seen in recent memory. It was just lackluster in all sense of the word. The first was a great thriller, not horror, movie and I wish it would have ended after that one. And, while the second completely rips off Cube, I enjoyed it for what it was. The fourth wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good, either.
I could careless about the fifth. There are so many unsolved plotholes (the little girl, what happened to Gordon, or to Wahlberg's kid) that should have been wrapped up already, but are being skipped upon in place of senseless storylines and lame ass characters. It's all about 'put someone in a trap, show quick shots of them screaming in various angles with the camera running around, and then have them die' (only two victims in the last three films have survived the entire film, which are Wahlberg's kid and the woman with the abusive husband).
It's all become a clusterfuck, and one of the reasons the Saw series is looked down upon by serious horror buffs who don't think of them as anything special. It's all about the money, and the people who will still shell out eight bucks for this shit.

I saw this at midnight and I wasn't impressed. The one thing that kept me interested though was that the woman who plays Rita on Dexter was in it. In my opinion, it's getting boring and they are running out of ways to keep it going. A majority of this movie was flashbacks.

There wasn't really a twist in this one. In the end, Strahm set up another cop who knew he was Jigsaw's apprentice to make it seem like he was the actual killer. The cop was also being tested by Jigsaw, and he failed and ended up being crushed in a room. I called the ending of the movie 10 minutes into it, very lame.

Despite the craptastic acting, I really liked the first one. I was by no means expecting that twist and when it was revealed with the combination of the awesome score I was chilled. The second one was alright and I don't remember anything about the third except the outcome of Jigsaw. Never saw the fourth one and don't care to. Same with this one.
These are just way too ridiculous now. I'm not a fan of gore, brutality, torture, graphic violence, etc.; these have just gone so over-the-top and are about outdoing (read: outgrossing) the one prior. I was initially just a fan of the twists because I'm a sucker for a surprise ending and I thought the first one was one of the best I had ever seen but now I'm just appalled.

But isn't Jigsaw dead?
Yes, but you find out in this one that Strahm had been helping him the WHOLE TIME, even throughout the second one. Strahm also predicted that Amanda would fail Jigsaw, which she did in the 3rd movie. So, Strahm set up the trap for the other detective because Jigsaw asked him to. The trap began in the same room that Jigsaw died in, there was a tape for the detective behind a wall that said something about how his search for the truth would be his downfall and that he should heed Jigsaw's warning and not go on because the room could be his sanctuary or his grave. He spent the whole movie searching for the truth and in tne end he ended up in a room with Strahm, a box made of some indestructable material that was full of broken glass, and a tape. The tape said something about him learning to trust Jigsaw and that he should get in the box, but he didn't and instead put Strahm in the box. Turns out, the box goes down into the floor because the walls of the room start closing in on him and he ends up getting crushed while Strahm chills in the box.

That is basically the same feeling I had while seeing the first. Terrible acting, but the twist at the end was so unexpected and awesome that I just loved it. I basically had the same reaction to the second one. It became a little more cheesy and gruesome, but I just loved the twist at the ending.
Then the third and fourth ones came, and I didn't enjoy either of them at all. Like you said, they are just trying to make them as gross and shocking as possible, and it's becoming quite sickening. I will more than likely see this when it comes to DVD, but it will probably be an hour and a half of my life I wish I could have back, haha.

Why didn't they just release this next weekend?Because if they released it next weekend no one will see it after that. Halloween is on Friday and no one is really going to go to the movies then and once Halloween is over, no one will care to see this. This movie's numbers are going to drastically drop after Halloween.
Just look at this weekend's numbers:
Friday- 14.1M
Saturday- 9.9M
Sunday- 6.4M
No lasting value even in it's opening weekend. Just imagine how much worse it would of been AFTER Halloween.

Wow. Really?
It blew nuts. Hard. Watched a bootleg copy and I wanted to turn it off after 45 minutes, but was too lazy to get up and pull the tape out. The fact that the story is basically stuck in the same place as Saw IV feel-wise is what kills it; it needs to advance at some point, not just stay on a treadmill. The connection between the group of people and the police detectives don't even click, it feels like two seperate movies that are trying to fight themselves off. The cop side is interesting, but we all know what it was leading up to. The big twist was something that anyone with a logical mind could have called almost an hour before.
'You won't believe how it ends', my ass.
Not only are the characters in the second story seriously underdeveloped (and cliche) and only used as cannon-fodder to some of Jigsaw's most uninspired traps to date, the pay-off at the end with these characters are only used as a visual treat. Oh, and did I mention they are all complete fucking idiots? Not just them, of course: everyone. No one follows the basic set of rules. You'd think that in the world of Saw, people would have the common sense to acknowledge what the five people in the house didn't. That's not real; that's just shit writing. Only a person with bad depth perception would do the things that the characters did in the second trap.
And is it just me, or am I getting a little tired of most of the film being told is useless flashbacks? Again, where the fuck is the progression? Why does it look like everyone is sleepwalking through the film? Why is the chick from Dexter wearing a terrible looking wig on her head? Why does no one in a mile or so radius hear the half of the explosions that happen?
Honestly, horror movies are my passion and my favorite genre bar none. But I shake my head at some of the people giving this piece of shit high marks when other films are coming out that advance the genre forward, not keep it stuck in place. It's fine that people like these types of movies, but I think bad word of mouth due to this installment is just going to kill the franchise off to the point where the sixth might just be the last Saw.

5 seems like its just setting up for 6. the whole "it may not make sense to you now but it will in the future" speech that jigsaw said about the 5 people.
it wasnt terrible. there was some bad acting. especially by the young heroine addict.
i give it like a 5/10. too many flashbacks without new footage.

5 out of 10? wow you're being generous....considering the best part of saws are the twists and ending, and we're left with nothing. And the worst story line of the series....the whole movie was about one cop trying to figure out that the bad cop was the new jigsaw. the problem here is that the character is trying to figure something out, that the audience all ready knows....it's not exciting.
Plus, lame script writing 101.... everytime the cop would come to some sort of conclusion, he was say what he's thinking out loud with no one around...."so he just sat there and took all the files to frame jigsaw" as he looks to the corner and says out loud to himself.
