Has anyone seen the "In Focus" lead up and/or the Alan Ball POV? The show could be total crap, but Alan Ball hasn't disappointed yet.

The "In Focus" bit was fun and the show seems interesting enough. I really can't imagine Ball doing a "Buffy X."

Anyway, this show is fucking great. I just finished watching the 4th episode and I am now officially hooked. I love the way they are reinventing the vampire legend, and the social commentary on discrimination. Plus, it has the coolest intro ever, cooler than Dexter even.

As for the show I thought it corny, almost to point of unwatchable. Coming from the creator of Six Feet Under I expected better, or at least something of quality. The, as you put it, social commentary, really didn't add anything to the show, either, and merely reenforced the cornyness factor.

This show is effing amazing and has me waiting all week until the next episode. Every aspect of the production is incredibly well done and absolutely a new favorite. Bill is such an awesome character, and I love how they're slowly yet not painfully slowly revealing the vampire world. Definitely a great addition for HBO.

I don't think it's Sam. It just seems too obvious. I do however think Sam is a wearwolf, and maybe he's doing the murders while he's turned. Either way it's obvious something is up with his character be it that he's the dog, the murderer, or something else entirely.

I also think Bill biting Sooki is going to be interesting. I see it being something entirely out of left field. Either she's not going to turn into a vampire, or she's going to be a vampire with more control and can resist sunlight, or maybe this whole thing is a dream. Either way, I think this episode is a turning point and shit is going to start happening at an alarmingly fast rate.

He's just planting the mystery as he goes.

I really don't think it's the detective. He's more or less the voice of judicial open mindedness. He's one of the few in the show who sees through bull shit and isn't racist towards Bill. To be honest I think the detective is going to play a key role as the season plays out.

At one point in the last episode, I think it may have been a scene in the bar, somebody said it's the full moon that's making people crazy. It was very subtle, and not directed towards Sam exactly, but fuck if that wasn't telling.

Ha. you are awesome. i think it's a great subplot and is amazing how they are presenting it. i would even add there is an EXTREME amount of jealousy and alpha-male concepts being portrayed between the two of them. Plus in the first episode(maybe the second), Bill realized that Sam was something special and commented about the dog. I think that was just a sign of what was to come. Now they are making things more obvious and less subtle.

Actually, that was one of the few episodes that don't leave me completely crestfallen at lack of action. I felt like they made progress in the Sam and Tara things.

Also, I'm kind of burnt out on the nudity/sex thing. I get that vampires are EXTREMELY sexual. I also think boobies are amazing. But it's just in EVERY episode, someone is getting screwed on screen(where they could be implying it like the whole sam tara thing.). I guess I just want more storyline. They don't need sex scenes in every episode.

I think there are a couple of ways this could go with lafeyette. i think that the new lady shapeshifter that knows sam could have been the one to kill lafeyette. she is now involved in tara's life so this could be part of that. OR i think many people are forgetting the way lafeyette was involved with that senator and how he threatened him(I really think it is this one...), the senetor really needs him dead. plus lafeyette knew the person that killed him. I think that they are trying to make people think it's vampire/bill/eric related, but really it isn't. but then again that is just my guess.

Firstly, it's not as if I said it was the worst thing on TV. Secondly, I can write it off because I've seen enough of it (in my opinion) to make an opinion of the show. I would never speak badly of someone who watches the show, I'm just stating it's not something I would ever watch.

I guess it's your right to form an opinion based only on a preview, but it's not the most intelligent thing to do. To think how many shows/movies you've missed out on simply because they had bad trailers...

I just read the first book of the series. I'm going to admit that the show is a lot better. I think that even if I had read the books first, I would like the show better. Ughhh I hate Sookie's attitude and it doesn't go into enough details. It's too fast paced as well.

Its funny that Orlando got torn up because of his statements in here. Although Charlene Harris's books are quite popular, I feel as though HBO saw the popularity of vampires right now and saw a cash cow on their hands. Saying that Twilight wasn't in the back of their minds is foolish but at the same time, saying that it is a rip off is idiotic as well. Also, I really think this season is going to be about Sookie and what she is. There's definitely a lot more to that. While watching season 1 they keep saying things like 'I know what she/Sookie is", "Did you really think you'd be able to keep her a secret", and a lot of other things alluding to what Sookie is. I know we already know how she is special and different, but I think there's a LOT more to it than that.

Just finished season 1. I think once this show matures it will get better and better unlike Six Feet Under which was great from the start. Excited to see where Jason, and Tara's storylines go. I'd also really like to see more of this fictional world where Vampires exist outside of Bon Temps.
