Why have a section of the forum like this, it just breads negativity. There's no need for this. People say what they like don't like all over the forum anyway. There's a lot of bands I don't like or flat out hate but I respect the fact they, for the most part, work there asses off. I think it's totally disrespectul to blatantly say bands suck and go overboard with comments bashing them. Why not say they're not for you or something less negative and have that be the end of it. The glass is half full, maybe there's hope for us yet.

I don't mean to sound like a Preacher but you've been victimized by this section and other spawns of negative energy. The good news is you can change, everyone can change.

By the way, if you would've read to post #7 in that thread (I actually checked) the person who started actually said that he was only trying to get a rise out of people, since he knows a lot of them like those bands, and he is a fan of ska so it is natural.

If something's going on that I think is wrong I'm going to say something. I didn't "trash talk". I had an agenda and a purpose and supplied an alternative to it, thus it was constructive criticism. Don't get all up in arms because I don't feel the need to be so negative I'm just trying to help you all here.

There is no way, on a music message board, that you won't get people saying which bands they don't like. Afterall, part of the point of these message boards is to post opinions. So basically you don't mind opinions as long as they are all positive ones?

I wish you all would actually take the time to read my posts because judging by your responses you didn't. I didn't say you can't post opinions. I said you should at least be respectful and not offensive. Don't say Good Charlotte sucks, say you don't like them. I'm not "bitching" or "trash talking" either...for the scond time, I'm posting alternative solutions to a crude and heartless one. Have respect for the hard work that musicians do and use words or phrases that don't offend people. Oh the naivity. If only you people could not have been subject to such negativity through society. If what I've read in this section of the forums is in fact true then the amount of hatred seems immense to me, and you're right it is your choice just like everything else in life. Why choose to hate? Don't waste time saying bad things about things you don't like, spend your time pursuing things you enjoy. Once again it is your choice, so every time you say something negative remember that time could have been spent on something positive.
I can do both, I'm a multi-tasker.

And you're probably going to say you're just "suggesting an alternative solution", but you're not, you're straight-up telling us that you want us to go about this forum and life in general in a certain way. It's called diversity and what makes people and music unique. Some love it, some hate. Some like bashing music they don't like, some are against bashing music they don't like. Do you see where i'm going with this ? Open up your eyes abit and try to understand the concept of originality. Negativity is an essential part of life, regardless of what you say about it. It's what makes the world run smoothly (well, as smoothly as it does anyways), and we need it. Without it, things would be fucked up, believe me. Oh, and one last thing, don't say I obviously didn't read your posts, because I read every single one and they're all very clear to me. All i'm saying is don't try to push your musical beliefs on other people. It only leads to even more trash talking, thus you creating more of what you're against. Vicious cycle, isn't it ?

IMO That's the first respectable reply, I just disagree with the part about negativity. I understand that people will trash talk and be negative no matter what I say, and it's a good point you made about the vicious cycle. Although I was hoping people would be mature in what they said (like you) and I would have gotten more sensible responses (like yours) . Im my opinion the world doesn't need negativity. I am very idealistic, I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. If there was no negativity I strongly believe the world would be a lot better place.
The intentions behind money were very noble (thanks to my HS Cultural Anthropology class) but what it turned into, essentially through negative emotions (greed, lust, power) made it what it is today. Something that helps few people and tortures most.
