They've had this album ready to go for a long time, I'm glad it's coming out soon. I wonder if Steel Train will ever play Bonnaroo, they'd have a great reception there.

This band is really talented but I'm afraid a lot of people like them for the wrong reasons, a.k.a. "they're on Drive Thru so I love them" syndrome. Because if you look at the musical tastes of people who say they like Steel Train, the band sticks out like a sore thumb and they hardly ever list similar sounding acts.

They won't, a SHIT load of people think Steel Train sucks and are the worst band on Drive-Thru. Because they don't sound like the majority of shit the label produces.

When it comes to Steel Train, it's like this.
1. People hate them because they're on Drive-Thru, and biased against everything the label has.
or
2. People hate them because they don't sound like the bands on Drive-Thru

This album will be one of the best of 2005.

I love DTR I love their bands...

I love Rushmore, I love their bands.

I love Steel Train, I love their music.

Ok, now I think your theory is a little wrong.

However, it will be one of the best of 2005. Although, it's not my most anticipated(Brand New)

I highly doubt it, especially with a rumor I heard about some one regarding one of the members...I don't wanna post it here though.

what? They're 'too good' for DTR? I don't get it, how is such an amazing band, too good, for an awesome label, with great dist. and probably better than almost all indie labels... would you rather them be on a super small label where lots of people don't know them. I don't know any major labels that'd be interested in anything but the latest trends...

and last I checked, Steel Train's music isn't trendy(though amazing)

I like Steel Train and will be buying this album.

Now that I've said that, let me say that I saw them live and they said they would play any request. There were about 20 people in the bar at the time and I called out for Story In A Dream. The band laughed off the suggestion, one gave me a look, and they asked if anyone else had a suggestion.
I understand that they might not like playing their old material, but there's no need to be a dick about it.
I call it Matt Embree syndrome, as the first time I experienced such hostility was when I asked him why he never plays the oldest RxB songs.
I guess it's the side effects of being a very talented non-emo non pop-punk band on Drive Thru Records, a label which, in anticipation of criticism of this post, I also support and enjoy nearly all of the artists on it.

i bet the reason drivethru held back releasing this record last year was the mca (later geffen) deal, as they knew they'd get snatched up by them, and therefore wouldn't be able to profit.

thats such a good song and i relate to you
i saw as tall as lions and the lead singer seemed like
an ass the whole night. maybe its because i was like the only one there for them
but i requested and the wick burt black (Ghost in drag) and the dude
did a cheezy fake laugh.
