Something Corporate (http://www.somethingcorporate.com) played "Konstontine" tonight at the Clutch Cargos show in Pontiac, MI. During it, though, Andrew started singing Weezer (www.weezer.com)'s "Only In Dreams". He sang the chorus and it lasted about a minute while not too many people at the show even seemed to notice.

Damn, thats the closest thing to a Weezer performance in a while. I remember reading about Album #5 like two years ago in AP. I really dont even care about a new album, just release some B Sides, god knows there are about 500. And then just go on a nice big tour to promote it. Then I'll be happy.

this is where i step in... WHERE THE FUCK IS WEEZER!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! ...and it's totally sad that 12 year old girls at the SoCo concert didn't notice that andrew was singing "only in dreams" ... my hat goes off for something corporate and their efforts, but a damn shame no one notticed

they did that at the Chicago too... and again, there were lots of people who did not know that it was weezer.

So...this means:

a) Something Corporate's current fanbase doesn't know enough of Konstantine to realize he was singing something different, even though it's been a favorite for years

and b) Something Corporate's current fanbase doesn't know Weezer well enough to recognize "Only In Dreams" in the middle of a different song.

This is sad.

I had to miss the show because of the stupid snow storms..
Soco's fanbase is 3/4 young girls just there for the hell of it and 1/4 true fans..it figures nobody knew weezer..

this is heartbreaking, because weezer is one of the greatest bands of all time, and the thought of kids not knowing who they are when they should, blah.

then again, there are people on here that didn't know about coheed until in keeping secrets was released on atlantic. what the fuck is wrong with you people?

He did that on the first night of tour at the HOB in Chicago, too. But he didn't just sing the chorus, he sang the whole first verse and the chorus. And later in the song, he inserted another "She's in your bones" and "Only in dreams" or two in there, as well. It was good.

And no, not a lot of people seemed to have a clue what he was singing. But is that really a surprise? The song is almost older than half the people in the crowd, or at least most of them were probably under the age of five when it was released. I feel old. I remember buying that CD for my friend for Christmas in 1994. Time flies.

Weezer are fucking rock gods!!!!! SoCo is cool. it's fucking sad that no one at the damn show even knew it was a Weezer song they were playing. goes to show how the majority of the fanbase are nothing but stupid little girls.

Konstantine is one of the most lyrically sound songs ever written. Who really cares if they sang weezer in thr break down... tbs sang justin timberlake in the breakdown of bike scene at one of the shows i saw... lets not get all bent out of shape.. its nice to see ppl mixing up the songs that they sing too much... blink did it... tbs did it.. soco is doing it.. live with it.

i wouldn't exactly call it obscure.. that album went platinum multiple times. that said... weezer still owns.

my favorite band of all time. oh.. and for everyone else wondering about a 5th album.. i submitted news (that never got posted) about how weezer is releasing a new single off of the fifth upcoming album in late march/early april. album five is almsot done and will be out before the end of summer. (by the way.. all of this news is off of their official site... weezer.com)

You're acting as if people were pissed that he interrupted his own song with a cover...I haven't seen one person complain about that. Rather, people are more surprised at the fans for not knowing the song.

But then again, it has been pointed out that the song is older than some of the fans...

No one bought that album based on "Only In Dreams". People bought the album for "Sweater Song", "Buddy Holly", and "Say It Aint So". I've never even heard the song, so apparently I must be one of the kids who didn't buy the album.

It's still an obscure song outside of Weezer fans, which apparently, didn't populate the Something Corporate show...possibly because Weezer wasn't on the bill. Just a guess.

i wish i was there, soco covering weezer sounds amazing

but this sounds like when midtown sang a lyric of the pixies of "where is my mind?" at the my chemical romance k-rock show, but none of the kids knew what it was, it was sad...

also, when dashboard sang brand new, further seems forever, and say anything, same thing

Midtown did that a bunch of times during "Become What You Hate" when I saw with them. One at Knitting Factory, and the other at The Downtown. I love Midtown, and when they put in The Pixies, I nearly orgasmed.

How do you know that "nobody seemed to notice"? What does it look like when someone notices that a cover song is being played. I've seen this posted on all of the So-Co fan sites so it must have been noticed.

This isn't exactly news.

First of all, that news was posted. I remember reading it here. Second, when he sings it (at least in Milwaukee he did this), he changes the melody of Only In Dreams to fit Konstantine, so if you don't recognize the words, it's hard to pick up. That being said, I don't even like SoCo and I thought that show was amazing.

That was pretty sweet. All these little girls around me singing the lyrics to Konstantine like they knew them and then Andrew started up 'Only In Dreams' and me and my friend started singing that while everyone else was just so perplexed. I am a moderate Something Corporate fan and like alot of people i absolutely loved that show. And the weezer cover just topped it off for me.

"heartbreaking"? good lord, could you be any more melodramatic.

I wouldnt know that it was a Weezer song because I think Weezer is incredibly overrated. if playing 4 power chords over a mid-tempo 4/4 beat makes them "one of the greatest bands of all time", then lots of bands should have that title.
