Dug the Dresden Dolls so naturally I checked out her solo album and was blown away. Really, really good stuff. One of my favorite albums of the year. Any fans? Discuss!

She's pretty decent. And a cool chick. I totally met her in a Newbury Comics once.

I need to get ahold of her album. I heard it was pretty awesome, but I haven't checked out any of the tracks yet.

:-d !

A Cubs-BoSox series would be so great. But, I honestly don't have a ton of faith in the Sox beating the Angels in the LDS...but we'll see.

I promised I'd listen to this album back in September, and I FINALLY own a copy, and I'm only in so far as Leeds United, and I absolutely love it so far.

^^ Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Solid, solid album and very overlooked. Havent listened to it in awhile...going to change that tonight.

It's less theatrical sounding than I think the Dresden Dolls are, which is great, because initially I was afraid that it would be a superfluous album so close to DD that her straying from the band was pointless, you know?

I absolutely love her voice too, I must say. I know it's not a strong selling point for a lot of people, and has for certain turned off the people I've attempted to share her music with, but I feel like in music, female vocalists are expected to have these clear delicate voices, while men in music can be considered fantastic vocalists because of their flaws, and I feel like her self-admittedly imperfect vocals act as a great big middle finger stuck up to gender roles in music. I think she delivers a lot more emotion and character than some of the greatest female singers today, and I appreciate that.

Totally. I didnt know what to expect when I got the album...figuring it would sound alot like DD but I was pleasently suprised.

As for her vocals, I get what you're saying. I've always loved them. She's right up there with Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as my favorite current female vocalists. Both are very different. Kinda have their own thing goin.

Like, NOBODY that I have heard sounds quite like Amanda Palmer.

Also, Oasis is a BRUTALLY hilarious song.
