balfour's such a fucking bitch. good stuff... but a bitch.

Scott Weber
10/03/08, 05:01 PM
hahahahahahaha get mad. how is balfour a bitch? he's been doing that shit all year, cabrera was the one who initiated any sort of confrontation and he got owned, twice. tons of pitchers yell and show emotion.

bulls2213
10/03/08, 05:08 PM
i wouldn't say cabrera got owned the second time, he moved the runner over.

just because he's been doing that all year doesn't make him any less of a bitch. and i said he has good stuff (excellent stuff, actually), he's just annoying that's all.

forgive me though, if you had guys like vazquez on your team who looks like he doesnt give two shits you'd probably understand, ha. i'm not exactly used to it.

Scott Weber

he moved the runner over but made the 2nd out. that's barely productive. that's just an out with a slightly better than it could have been result.

he's only annoying because cabrera called him out and then got dominated. if he doesn't initiate that, nobody's calling anyone annoying.

bulls2213
10/03/08, 05:17 PM
still better than a strikeout. ill take it. if swish had gotten it done we wouldn't be having this discussion.

defensive much? i said he has good stuff, relax. we've been watching some good baseball here.

DaveFeelsRight
10/03/08, 05:24 PM
finally have some time to get to a computer.

so, the rays really aint that scary, they are very beatable. we just swing at bad pitches. i think we left like, 10 or 12 on base. we could have easily put this game away.

Scott Weber

Why the hell would they put CB Bucknor on a playoff series. The dude's terrible.

startBBtoday
10/03/08, 05:45 PM
c.b. bucknor sucks, but swisher needs to take his fucking bat off his shoulder

rcrook
10/03/08, 05:46 PM
the sox need to take their bats off their shoulders in general. you know the dude has a consistently big strikezone, so swing at anything close numb nuts.

Walker's terrible. If he sees a problem in a guy's swing, he won't talk to him about it until after a game because he's too busy, you know, not coaching.

bulls2213
10/03/08, 10:17 PM
all i can say is

1. the sox proved they can win three huge games in a row with their backs against the wall... can they do it again? i think they can, and they'll have another 40,000+ blackout behind them.

2. to be honest, i'm just happy we're even in this situation. after last week's shit show against the twins and indians i thought they were dead in the water. anything they get now is really a bonus, quite frankly.

a few awesome stats from game 2:

12 hits -- All singles
2 walks and a HBP -- 15 baserunners
0 extra bases taken -- 0 first-to-thirds, 0 2nd-to-homes
3 total bases advanced on an out -- a 1st inning sac fly, and a 5th inning sacrifice
3 hits w/ RISP, 2 failed to drive in a run, 0 after the first inning.
9-32 -- Sox record when they fail to hit a HR
4-17 -- Sox record in the monstrosities otherwise known as domes.

CubbyNick42
10/06/08, 11:02 AM
The blackout looked way cooler at night during the tiebreaker.

Scott Weber
10/06/08, 11:06 AM
i just think the idea of a blackout is retarded. it's almost soothing to an opposing team. it's one thing if it's white, red, any other color, but black? it's not intimidating. and it's completely washed out by all those rally towels.

CubbyNick42
10/06/08, 11:11 AM
I don't think intimidation is the aim...maybe in college football or basketball, but intimidation isn't really a factor in baseball. It's more like a fan solidarity type thing.

Drew Beringer
10/06/08, 11:16 AM

I completely disagree, of course the fan solidarity is assumed (no shit, they're all wearing the same thing) but there is an intent of making it a tough place to play for the opponent by giving them a visual that is so against what they are used to seeing - even if it's not the primary aim, it's always a wishful result.

bulls2213

i think the white on black looked fucking awesome...

and yes, the blackout against the twins looked a LOT cooler cause it was a night game. the whole idea is just cool. you dont see it in pro sports all that much.

blackout>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>cowbells
both = dumb

Scott Weber
10/06/08, 11:28 AM
the cowbells being annoying as hell is exactly why they have them, it increases the home field advantage. the blackout doesn't do that.

bulls2213
10/06/08, 11:32 AM
how the hell does a 40,000+ blackout w/ rally towels not increase homefield advantage? the players have said they love it and it pumps them up, so that's good enough for me.

Scott Weber
10/06/08, 11:39 AM
i'm just saying it doesn't really negatively affect an opposing team. black isn't exactly a distracting color. moving on.

bulls2213
10/06/08, 11:54 AM
the only real significant homefield advantage the rays have over the white sox is the fact that they play in a dome with a fast surface. the sox are 4-18 in domes this year, and are obviously psyched out for whatever reason. cowbells really have nothing to do with it.

but yes, moving on. let's see how these rays respond to some pressure, if in fact gavin brings it today and sends this series back down there.

Scott Weber
10/06/08, 02:07 PM

bulls2213
10/06/08, 02:38 PM
that's not uncommon for thome.

sonnanstine looks like the type of pitcher that could give many of our hitters trouble... hopefully i'm wrong.

Scott Weber
10/06/08, 02:46 PM

bulls2213
10/06/08, 03:27 PM
andy should be the type of pitcher that the white sox shell. pitches to contact, fly ball pitcher, throws a ton of strikes.

not with our impatient hitters. they have problems with pitchers who change speeds and keep them off balance, and that's exactly what sonnanstine is doing. they have no idea what's coming. our lineup is full of hitters who sit solely on the fastball, and pop everything else up or strike out.

I would love to see the Rays win the WS... they deserve it more than any other team, especially after being shit on for the past 15 years. Props to all their die hard fans who've stuck around. Good for them and the team. Fun team to watch, good luck to them.

tell that to Philly, the Cubs, the Brewers, etc

i understand what youre saying but there are other teams who have been worse longer lol

i wish it would've been a more competitive series... unfortunately we had to throw javy out there for game 1, which i think destroyed the momentum we had going in but oh well.

congrats to the rays though, they were clearly the better team and i'm hoping they take the pennant.

The only one who I would consider is the Brewers, the Cubs and Phillies have had their chances in the past couple of years.. I mean let's face it, the Rays have been arguably the worst team in baseball since their first season, and to have a turn around from dead last to the hottest in the majors is incredible.
