I don't like them, nor do I not like them. I haven't really listened to them, but it's not that horrible. I did see them live last year and they put on an AWESOME show though! They're back in town with Rise Against and Brazil in April, so that will be fun too.

I think they are amazing, they are great live too, i've seen them twice, going to see them a third time in march, last time wade hung out with me and a couple friends for like 20 minutes just bullshitting after the show, and it was just us and him everyone was else was still watching hot water music.

Scary when 'screamo' bands such as Underoath and Senses Fail get publicity in the US when Alexisonfire is about a million times better.. Sure Watch Out is shitty, but the first CD is one of the best i own.

What exactly is your problem with that? I've heard many lyrics that are much worse than that. Try any other generic copycat 'screamo' band and you'll get the same thing (I'm not saying Alexisonfire is unique. Just better than half the other crap out there).

and yeah... they are awesome guys... we stayed with them afterwards at the creepy crawl for like an hour and a half playing hacky sack and having dance offs... it was friggin hysterical... some homeless guys even got in on the dance a thon... and other randomness.... it was a fun night.

They're not horrible, they're just not anything great. There's plenty of other bands in the bloated genre that do the samething better. I'm not denying that they're bad people. Like I said, I've seen them several times and they put on an energetic live show.

Alexisonfire are one of the best bands in the genre they've been put in to (Screamo). They have one of the best singers (Dallas) out of any "Hardcore" band and one of the best screams. Not to mention great guitar work.

Read the post man, I said it's the genre they've been put in to. I've talked with the guys, hell of i've even interviewed them and they don't consider themselves Screamo nor do they want to be. They play shows with bands like The Bedouin Sound Clash.

i saw them in november with Hot water music (the first time theyd ever been to MA, they said) and it was awesome.
i dunno what the big argument about genres is. their self-titled debut CD was hardcore, yeah, cuz all of the vocals were just angry screams. but i kidna think that their new cd "watch out!" is more leaning towards screamo because in addition to george "singing" more than just screaming, Dallas has some emotional ballads; some of which are slow like "It was fear of myself that made me odd" and "Sharks and Danger". so yea even though they might be considered hardcor, they do have some songs that more resemble emo/screamo

It's not that we're genre nazi's, it's just that people don't know shit about the genre. I'm sure any screamo fan can understand how shitty it is to try and find new music within the genre. Whenever you ask for some screamo recommendations 95% of answers are "Underoath" and "Dead Poetic".
Music needs to be catergorized into genres, much like books are organized by Fiction/non-fiction...horror, mystery, etc. Most readers would get distressed if they asked for some good Horror novels and people kept responding with "Nancy Drew".

I was introduced to Alexisonfire by my friends from Ateriavia who are good friends with the band. If you look in the band thank you's for Watch Out! You'll see Ateriavia in there. I think Alexisonfire is amazing and I am in heterosexual love with Dallas Green.
