Please comment, the title is only tentative as I am yet to record it.
We Mustn't Be Sentimental, We Must Be Realistic
Picasso is planning the perfect heist
safety off, puts the barrel to his teeth
after nights of quietly crying himself to sleep
No more dreams, no more fears, he's six feet deep
Now our hero is made of plastic lying on the floor
First a rush to the head and second of remorse
Third time's a charm, a product of vagabond lore
No more songs, no more paint, the plight of the poor
This is a forgery of a goodbye note
Traveler's checks and gambler's debts
This is a memory of a horoscope
a century of journal entries
and this one says...
"I knew a place where we could fly
not bought or sold by dollar signs
Love wasn't something you could buy
not a losing struggle for mankind
When we were young and had no fear
Problems of the world just disappeared
I'll look back and shed a single tear
My one last wish and I'll be there"
I saw a man in a alley way
begging to bring home food today
he had a wife and kids, a family to support
which was hard to do when the rent is more
than the minimum wage he used to make
and there will be no headlines, there will be no wake
when they find him lying in the cold
a lifeless soul without a tangible foe
This is a forgery of a goodbye note
Traveler's checks and gambler's debts
This is a memory of a horoscope
a century of journal entries
and this one says...

When we were young and had no fear
Problems of the world just disappeared
I'll look back and shed a single tear
My one last wish and I'll be there"
A portrait hangs over a bedroom mantle
it's the last souvenier of a losing battle
the walls are breeched, the castle surrenders
to the victory cheers of a cold green dollar
and this one said...
