Inspired by Empire magazine's feature, who's the better actor, and why?

My vote goes to De Niro.

Tough tough poll. I went with Pacino but it was a toss-up.

De Niro despite the fact that 80% of the movies he's made in the past 10 years have been atrocious

I wish I could vote for both of them, just for their perfomances in Heat alone.

Pacino hasn't been good in nearly twenty years, ever since "Hoo-ah!" entered the vernacular.

De Niro has been hit or miss lately, but certainly has some good ones (Meet the Parents, The Good Shepherd, Stardust, Analyze This, etc.)

I've always thought Pacino is a subpar actor. I just don't see it.

Pacino. Even though Scarface is completely cliche now, really if you just watch it as a movie by itself it's a pretty fucking scary portrayal.

i think DeNiro is a much more versatile actor than Pacino.
i think someone mentioned stardust before, i mean, there is no way that pacino could pull off a role like that.

Pacino has been in so many shit movies such as Two For The Money, Simone, and one of his newest ones 88 Minutes. All terrible

Shame on you. Should've won Best Picture and Best Director that year but it didn't. I think it's De Niro's best performance, though I haven't seen them all.

I def. need to see more movies by each but from what I've seen it's gotta be Deniro.

Pacino has Donnie Brasco, Heat, Carlitos Way, Scarface and the Godfather flicks.
Deniro has Heat as well, Casino, Goodfellas, The Untouchables, Raging Bull and GF part 2.

All of those are epic to me but Deniro pulls ahead. Not to mention they've been in other movies that were pretty damn good as well. I.E. Analyze This/That, The Score, The Recruit etc.

I've been wanting to see Ronin and Taxi Driver for quite some time but always forget about them. This thread makes me want to go out and by them asap.

De Niro. I love plenty of Paccino movies, but the high points of De Niro's career have been better than the high in Pacino's.
