The new album from Fairmont "Transcendence" is super good. Check out a new track online right here (http://www.forthesound.com/Artist/p21_bandid/251).
Bit too light and commercial poppy for me. I onlylistened to it once though and nothing stood out for me, I suppose when there is a genre that just doesn't suit you its inevitable that music from it will be like this, generic.

HA, I would say that the new Fairmont album is pretty far from commercial, the first hint would be the 6 minute song that starts the album off that has no parts that repeat. nice try though...

There's no use arguing with fanatics but like I said its too preppy commercial pop stuff for me.
I just think I am too mature a music fan to ever feel compelled to buy this generic stuff. I understnad you might feel you have to defend your taste too, but you will have to excuse me if I say this stuff isn't my cup of tea.

I think generic would refer to a band that sounds like everything else that is out there, I think you are quite confused because I'm pretty sure no other bands out there sound like this. I think Fairmont combines elements of The Who, Flaming Lips, Polyphonic Spree, Pixies, Mates of State, Sea Wolf, not anything that I would call mainstream commercial music. Maybe your cup of tea is actually a cup of shit?

I see your dictionary is working soundly, but paradoxically your ears aren't!! :D
Also once you lower yourself to using expletives your opinion loses all value in my eyes. I think you've said enough.

Maybe next time if you support your argument with details and examples I'll have something more intelligent to retort against rather than reverting to expletives. Some very awesome people were part of making this record including Teeter from Ladybirds, Suzie and Charlie from The Narrative, Clancy formerly of Ours, Bryan Russell (Starylight Run, Envy On The Coast) and the Fairmont guys, I think this record deserves a fair listen instead of a quick "its too preppy commercial pop stuff for me" .
