2nd'd please

i'd definately want to see straylight, and is SKSK any good?

I've seen SKSK about 3 or 4 times due to them opening for other bands I wanted to see. They have a lot of energy but the guy didn't sing all that well those times I've seen them and the microphone volume always seemed to be kind of low as well.

I mean he laughed. I would say

There for Tomorrow is 20-25 min.
Straylight Run - 25-30 min.
Scary Kids Scaring Kids - 30-40 min.
Anberlin - idk I was too busy singing every song.

wow, that's completely unlike stephen.

i saw them play the week cities came out (almost 2 years ago...wow) and Stephen did that. it was surprising to me then, i'm kinda surprised to hear they still do it.

seeing them again tomorrow! can't wait.

That set list looks pretty good but I think it'd be better if they played an old song or two that they never play like Glass to Arson or Change the World. I think both of those would sound awesome live and give the band a chance to rock out. I think a perfect set list would be:
The Resistance
The Feel Good Drag
Glass to Arson
A Whisper and A Clamor
A Day Late
Readyfules
Alexithymia
Disappear
Never Take Friendship Personal
Hello Alone
Unwinding Cable Car
Dismantle.Repair.
Paperthin Hymn

Encore:
*Fin
Godspeed

Playing a set with songs that no one would expect, that is one of the things that make's a band live performance so amazing. That'll never happen though :(

Mathematics is not one of my favorite songs. I'd rather hear a song off of Blueprints or maybe Time and Confusion or Audrey.

yeah its not one of my favorites either but i was excited cause it was a song i wasn't expecting to hear but then they didn't play it so i was disappointed

btw anyone who's planning on going late, don't cause there for tomorrow is a great opener!

I dunno...i've seen Anberlin play a few times and two of the times they pulled out some random good oldies like Time & Confusion both times. ....it may not happen again I guess because they have so much material...but if any band is gonna do it I bet Anberlin will continue to try to.

We're you trying to post a REALISTIC perfect set or your PERFECT Anberlin set? Cuz if we are talking about a PERFECT Anberlin set that doesnt have to be realistic then I would like this:

Debut
Godpeed
Never Take Friendship Personal
A Whisper & A Clamour
Stationary Stationery
Time & Confusion
Haight St.
Adelaide
Readyfuels
The Undeveloped Story
Breaking
Naive Orleans
Unwinding Cable Car
Inevitable
Breathe
Disappear
Burn Out Brighter
The Feel Good Drag
A Day Late
Paperthin Hymn
Dismantle.Repair

Encore:

The Resistance
The Promise (cover)
Staggering Genius/Christa Paffgen
*Fin

whats the order?

i was thinking it was;

Anberlin (headline)
Straylight Run
Scary Kids
TFT (openner)

am i right?

It was:
There For Tomorrow
Straylight Run
Scary Kids ScaryingKids
Anberlin

just got back. there for tomorrow were a GREAT openner. sounded really good and set a good vibe. straylight run was the reason i went. heres the set in order;

mistakes we knew we were making
wait and watch
it never gets easier
soon we'll be living in the future
ten ton shoes
existentialism on prom night
try
hands in the sky

scary kids were horrible. all of my friends really like em but i havent heard much of their stuff. i was going into their set thinkin it'd be pretty good since they co-headlined with finch and all. THEY SUCKED. people were really into them, but the singer doesnt know how to work i mic or something. one of the worst performances i've ever seen easily.

anberlin were incredible. i've never listened to them except i've heard adelaide like twice in my life. they sounded great, they were having a genuine good time, and they were spot on.

p.s. i know i complained earlier in this thread about SR playing before SKSK but i swear i'm not that immature and dumb to base my "review" (if you wanna call it that) off of that opinion. i could see when i got there that it would've been weird if SR were direct support. sksk just plain sucked ass. thats a simple fact.

They actually really sucked at my date too, so i completely agree with you, i am actually pretty sure the entire band was drunk on stage, they all seemed out of it. and sounded horrible! as for the rest of the show though. i thought it was an amazing show

Pittsburgh show last night was stellar. They played Symphony before Fin and cut out Haight St. :).

Mr. Smalls -- Millvale, PA. 10/28/08
Disappear (great opener)
NTFP
Paperthin Hymn
Breaking
A Day Late
Adelaide
Dismantle.Repair.
Inevitable
Unwinding Cable Car (so.so.good)
Retrace (surprisingly good)
Hello Alone
TFGD
The Resistance (shockingly enjoyable live)
Godspeed
Symphony of Blase (yesssssss)
Fin

Some notes:
My favorite part of the set is the Adelaide/Dismantle duo. Both songs kill live.

SKSK was pretty good. The crowd actually started chanting for an encore for about 20 seconds. I'm in agreement with everyone else who says the whole drinking beer on stage thing is a turn off. Also, the guy who does the synth/keyboard for them comes off as the little brother who they allow on stage with them -- he just makes a fool of himself and says stupid things in the mic between songs.

But hey, to each his own -- i still enjoyed their set for the most part.

Straylight Run is enjoyable but a tad awkward live. Crowd didn't seem to dig it too much.

Before Anberlin they tested the Mathematics loop just like at the other shows.

Anberlin owns.

The setlist was identical to the above, the guitars sounded better than on warped, Stephen held some notes he doesn't normally do on the cd's. Also they cut out quite a bit of Fin (most of what happens after the choir stops.)

sksk wasn't really my thing, but they didn't drink onstage and sounded tight. I wouldn't be so harsh on they keyboardist, he didn't say anything at all besides the standard "how are you doing?/scream for me !", was at least more entertaining to watch than the underoath guy, and seemed like he really appreciated it when I told him they sounded good.

Straylight was pretty good. They opened with mistakes we knew we were making, played existentialism somewhere in the middle, and closed with big shot.

TFT was also entertaining, I don't any of their songs except pages, which they closed with.

he said like he always imagined like the show last night in nyc
to go the way it went last night, EVERY single person singing along, and dancing
it was like.. amazing you had to be there. lol

the setlist for scary kids was:

Degenerates
snake devil
my darkest hour
the deep end
a pistol to my temple
the only medicine
a breath of sunshine
holding on
free again
faces

anberlin's setlist is this but they did 2 extra songs so i forgot :[
the order lol but i remember these songs in order :

dissapear
never take friendship personal
paperthin hym
a day late
adelaide
dismantle repair
inevitable
the unwinding cable car
hello alone
feel good drag
the resistance

He has his vision of how the song should go> which made them such a good live band. He was making sure everything went according to plan, he actually gives a shit about he plays. Also there are only 3 guys in the band so the fact that he manages to pull everything off is quite impressive. They did their own sound check also which I thought was funny.

Philly show was amazing.

TFT were boring and generic, but their singer looked like john stamos. I told him that (just the john stamos part), and he gave me cookies.

Straylight Run were amazing. The crowd was not into them at all; they kept mocking them and yelling mean things at them. John seemed really pissed. Someone yelled "this better be the last song," and John said "fuck you. it is." They, sadly, played a real short set though (not sure if its the right order):
Mistakes We Knew We Were Making
Ten Ton Shoes
Existentialism on Prom Night
Soon We'll Be Living In The Future
Big Shot

SKSK sucked a lot. I think they're decent on cd, but they were horrible live. Definately did not deserve more time that Straylight. Their keyboardist looked like a spider.

Anberlin was amazing. I don't know a lot of their songs' names, so no setlist. They had the biggest reaction from a crowd I've seen besides when I saw Saves the Day. They deserved it to.
However, Stephen thought they were in Boston...

Overall, it was an amazing show thats totally worth the money, but straylight should be co-headlining or at least direct support.

I actually thought There For Tomorrow was a great opener, and SKSK was pretty decent. I lol'd at the "hardcore" bros trying to start shit during SKSK and it obviously wasn't working.

Ugh, I was so disappointed at the crowd reaction for Straylight, they were so spot on for Big Shot, it was amazing. By the way, you forgot Wait and Watch on that setlist, haha.

So true. These guys put on such a passionate show too. For three guys on stage it's such a huge sound.

I felt like the crowd got so much more into Scary Kids and honestly i found myself wanting Straylight to be on more. They have worked so hard for so long and their set didn't even come up to half of Scary Kids' set and the crowd's response was unappreciative at best.

Anberlin was incredible live. Beyond my expectations.

I wish that people were more respectful at shows. Why do people go to a show, just to give the openers shit or to talking during the bands? It's so lame. Have the crowds been full of younger kids? I'm 24 and went to the Chiodos tour and omg have I ever felt so out of place. Maybe because it wasn't a show for one of my favorite bands so I didn't get on barricade.

I'm really bummed I'll be missing Straylight Run. I hope they come back soon. They amaze me.

Amazing show! I have seen Anberlin five times now, and this was by far my favorite set they played. Hearing *Fin was amazing, every song they played was amazing.
What made it better was having SKSK open up for them, they have so much energy its crazy. I could appreciate Straylight Run only because I knew most of the songs they played. But I totally agree with them playing before SKSK, mainly because in my opinion SKSK did the job of getting me excited to see Anberlin better than I think Straylight Run could have. There for tomorrow I was a bit disappointed in their setlist I still like them though, no take cover or icebox.

Well... see this is what confuses me. I would think that most kids would go to see There for Tomorrow if anything. But they didn't get a great response, even though they tried working the crowd admirably. Scary Kids Scaring Kids had the mosh action going on and Anberlin was the headlining. But that concert was packed so that i was an inch from being pushed into the guts of the next person and nobody moved until the last two bands. It was a bi-polar concert.
I don't think these kids realize that just because you don't absolutely adore someone doesn't mean they don't deserve at least an ounce of dignity.

I hope you get to see Straylight Run soon.

Wow, what a show tonight. Every band but straylight run was from Orlando, so it was a big homecoming. The opening band, "Transmit Now" was solid. Great stage presence, and their vocalist had good range.

There For Tomorrow, I can't stand. Another run of the mill scenester hair band.

Straylight Run was amazing, and their set was WAY WAY too short. :( Bummed me out, but we did get TWO old songs, and Hands In The Sky.

Anberlin was as good as I've ever seen them (this was my 4th time). Their set was very similar to all of the other sets posted in here. Sadly, there weren't any hometown surprises from Anberlin, but their welcome applause was amazing. This town LOVES their bands, especially Anberlin. HUGE applause for them after they came back out for the first encore song. It went on for a good 2 or 3 minutes. Amazing appreciation, and well deserved to see this band be so well loved by its fans.

Anyway, Here's what they played:

NTFP:

Never Take Friendship Personal
Paperthin Hymn
A Day Late

Cities:

Godspeed
Adelaide
The Unwinding Cable Car
Inevitable
Dismantle.Repair
Hello Alone

New Surrender:

The Resistance
Breaking
Retrace
Feel Good Drag
Disappear

ENCORE:

Amsterdam (!!!!)
*Fin

Great show, but I would have loved to see Readyfuels.

Weird. That song has been called Amsterdam in my iTunes forever. Wasn't that the alternate name or something?
