yeah I have limited access to some websites. They block a whole bunch of sites, but apparently not this one. which doesnt make much sense to me, cuse I cant get on any bands forum...but I can get on this one. ah well lol. Im just counting down till 10 when I can go and crash. I tried to go to bed sorta early last night, but that didn't work to well.

I'm a Medical Transcriptionist Assistant, which means I sit at a desk and correct patients reports(the reports the doctors dictate like a patients history and physical, or a discharge summary so they can leave the hospital.). I correct stuff in the report, and than I get to answer phones from doctors, nurses or whoever needs a report and get a report typed so the patient can leave to go home, or into surgery....stuff like that. Its actually a really easy job and pays really well, and for a college student who is planning to be a lab tech when I graduate its good experience...just sucks I get stuck with the shit hours. lol

i'm a nursing student so i feel your grief...anyways, how the hell do you actually read the doctor's handwriting. i'm still working on that.

ahh yeah I dont have to read their handwriting. What they do is dictate into a system we have here. So they talk and talk and talk(and believe me, they talk a lot....) and than we have transcriptionists(not me) whose job it is to type every damn word those doctors say in report. My job is to fix what the transcriptionists got wrong or couldn't figure out. A lot of those doctors are really hard to understand cuse they have really heavy accents and stuff, so we get to look up info about the patients and call their doctors offices to figure out what happened and whats wrong. Than I fix it and send it on its merry way. it might sound a lot harder than it really is. But it isnt. We have a big database with all the patients in it with their info and crap. Yeah I was going to go into nursing, but I think I would get to attached to the patients and stuff. So I chose something a little more behind the scenes with Lab Tech. Im in my junior year and so far its pretty good.

that doesn't sound too bad plus if all your files are electronic that eliminates trying to figure out what the hell the doctors were thinking.

i understand the whole thing about not wanting to get involved with patients. honestly, it's super hard especially now that i'm working with kids. if the nursing thing doesn't work out, i'm heading to a lab job or work for a drug company...then i will be filthy rich!!

haha damn right! thats what I was thinking. But yeah, you definatly have to be a certian kind of person to be able to become a nurse or doctor..and I just dont know if I'm that. But i always knew I wanted to get into something medical..so it was this or becoming like a x-ray tech. but this to me seemed a little more interesting, plus im way way way better at Chem.

yeah, x-ray techs make damn good money and it's never hard to find a job because hospitals are always looking. i dunno, not too good at promoting the nurse thing right now because i've had a horrible week
