i got this idea from S&M and another thread

personally i'd like to hear:
Chiodos
Coldplay
The Mars Volta
Pixies
Smashing Pumpkins
Screaming Trees
Cake
and possibly Flogging Molly

haha Flogging Mollly with a full orchestra would be amazing ha....

but it has to be like "epic" kind of bands...with enough slower songs to go with it, like Pixies, smashing, volta were all good choices....

i could see Thursday having one

most Prog would be good

like Dream Theater, Queensryche or Symphony X

i did think Chiodos would be, but upon listening again...most of their songs are orchestrated anyways

OPETH! i forgot Opeth, by God that would be awesome

or keep a closed-mind, whatever you prefer

personally i like to see the beauty in all music, rather than completely shut myself off from the possibility

especially when its obvious, such as in this case

Chiodos being prog is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

theseacaptain

first of all, quoting Billy Madison just shows idiocy

second of all, actually listen rather than assume
the time shifts
the complete turns in musical style, mid-song
the vocal style in general
the synth arrangements

i could go on, but you seem to not be worth my time, according to previous posts

vocal style has been done to death, band is the equivalent of musical aids.

Do you know who Rush is?

Have you ever heard of Yes?

That is progressive rock none of those bands you are talking about have "Proggy" Elements, I also hate the genre of "Post Hardcore" because everyone places every fucking shit scene band in there with no reason to it.

of course, i've actually seen Rush live twice, i know what i'm talking about, i'm just not an elitist with an amazingly closed-mindset

and the 3 main Scene genres are Post-Hardcore, Metalcore and Pop-Punk, that's just how it is

odd, seeing as how you've been attempting an argument this entire time

and if you had any base intelligence when it comes to the mind, you'd know age and intelligence really can't be compared, you can't make a blanket statement on an entire group of people, that's called stereotyping

EDIT: *sigh* nice edit

Which is why I hate using genres now adays because every band that uses screaming with softer music is "Post Hardcore", every crappy band that plays in drop D is "Metalcore" and everything else is "Pop-punk" which half the bands young kids like you put into these genres dont even have the sound as the genre.

that's how its been forever

saying one band has elements of a genre it isn't part of is not bastardization

and The Fall Of Troy is Post-Hardcore with Mathcore tendencies, or the other way around depending on your perspective
