Simple. Which one do you like better?
Yes, as a 22 yr old male I have a soft sport for both these shows. I get shit for it constantly. I've had a few people (my gf included) who used to talk shit about the OC end up liking it alot because I made them watch. I pick the OC as it is one of my fav. shows I've seen on television. GG is cool but just not as good.
I don't think a thread/poll has been dedicated to this topic but I may just be a moron and not using the search function right.

yeah, that's true. I don't think I ever finished watching the last season because it was on the same night as Grey's and I fell behind around chrismukkah =/

Ahh Marissa was my least fav of the main characters. She did bring drama to the show though and made things interesting but she annoyed me towards the end. Although she was off the show season 4 was still great. Not alot of people gave it a shot becaue of Mischa leaving and also Greys Anatomy was sucking fans away from the OC but I wish they would have because I think the show would still be on. The OC would be nothing without Seth though. He had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.

Seth was The OC
First 2 seasons of The OC > second season of GG (so far) > 3rd season of The OC > 1st season of GG > 4th season of The OC
Overall, I gotta go with The OC. Even though the storyline had a huge downfall during the 3rd season and even moreso after Marissa's death, the first 2 seasons were so good in terms of plot, charecter development, music, and the subtle humor.

true. but at times he annoyed me with his relationship with summer. we all knew they were meant for each other.
the oc is by far the greatest television program ever.
i love it and im not ashamed to say it.
i own all four seasons on dvd and watch them over and over. so good!

I chose Gossip Girl cause even though I loved the first couple seasons of the OC, GG has better clothes and hotter guys. Plus, I like Blake Lively much more than I like Mischa Barton

i love it and im not ashamed to say it.
i own all four seasons on dvd and watch them over and over. so good!

I don't know about my favorite show ever, but it was a quality show. And the last season was awesome. Josh Schwartz was back writing and the storylines were fun and fresh like in season 1. Season 3 is what killed it, it got too terrible and depressing, and all its viewers started watching Grey's Anatomy which was in the same time slot. For me it goes Season 1>4>2>>>>>>>3.

it's called valentine. she plays a greek god who uses a hot tub to foresee peoples love situations and how to go about fixing them. all on top of reaaaally cheesy graphics. i swear if she wasn't in this show i would never watch another episode again.

Post Season 1 Marissa was a c-bomb who created ever unnecessary drama related storyline. She was so awesome when the show began, and then she sucked from there on out.

I actually kind of like Kaitlin. She was a character that I sort of related to in the last season, aside from Seth. I liked Marissa too, but Kaitlin was no Marissa.

I would'nt say my favorite show ever, but yeah, it was great while it lasted. It was almost a cultural phenomenon, how many people do you know that went around saying "Its the OC bitch!", or girls dressing like Summer and Marissa, or even when people started saying Chrismikkah (I don't think thats spelled right). Plus the show had awesome music on it too. Basically I miss the OC sooooo much. haha, but at least it lives on in reruns.
Oh yeah, for me, its Season 1>3>2>4

well the first two seasons of the OC had SOO much drama. i think it got a little hard to come up with new scenarios, when practically everything had been done before.
i think we need to look at this after GG has had four seasons..

Somethign about Marissa always intruiged me...she was very dark, with this vulnerability. Like it would be possible for no one to ever figure her out. In some ways I kind of related to her, but the fact that she was so drama-ridden did kind of bug me.

i never saw her character that way, but i think maybe your right. what turned me off marissa was that whole thing with oliver. it made me so mad how she was so blind to it all and how she used to get mad a ryan for not trusting oliver. after that i never liked her

yeah, I liked her too, mainly in the first season. I did like when Kaitlin came back though because I was like "didn't the Coopers have another kid?" When she first came back, I didn't like her, but in the 4th season, after getting to see her character a little more, I started liking her more. plus for me, i related to Kaitlin a little more than Marissa, but I think I like Marissa a little better even though she alway brought a lot of drama to the show.

I agree with you completely. I love these kinds of shows, they always get me. However, The OC was the bee's knees. The first 2 seasons were just unreal and completely epic. I don't know if a show of the same genre can top it for me. Gossip Girl has been good, but it's not the same and just seems like it isn't on the same scale as The OC. Also, One Tree Hill is in the same vein as these two. Same thing as The OC, though-the first few seasons were awesome, but recently it's just become really trite and boring. They all just need to end before they get predictable and lose what it was that made them good in the first place.

So, I think Im going to have to wait a few more seasons to see. Because the OC was great it's first few seasons, then got really bad. The same thing could happen to Gossip Girl. Both are outlandish and have great clothing. But, at the moment I'm going to go with Gossip Girl, this co uld change though. And I can see them being on par in the future.
