Does Canada elect their president/prime minister whatever every 4 years too?Traditionally yes, but if the elected government is in minority, the whole parliament, which is in majority made up of members of opposing parties, can vite and decide to call an election at any time during the mandate. There is no set date for elections like in the U.S.
In this case, the prime minister, Stephen Harper, violated the bill he himself created during his mandate by calling an election without having a vote at the parliament. This action is still in court and, most likely, won't be sorted before the actual voting day. If it is found to be illegal, then perhaps that the whole campaign won't be recognized as legal. I have no idea how this can end up.

I just voted for the most Canadian sounding name. And since there was no Pierre, I just went with the one with the weird accent thingy over the "e." Good luck to her.

I read the title as "Great White Erection: We're Having One Too!" I'd rather be having an erection, personally.
Isn't the New Democratic party in Canada the equivalent of United States Republican party?

Haha this election looks so boring. Jack Layton sounds like a good choice though.

Well, if I was old enough to vote, I'd go with Jack Layton. I would want to vote Liberal, but the deal breaker for me was that the NDP want to remove our troops from Afghanistan. I suppose they are sort of off-base, because it probably would be difficult for them to "talk through it," but at least they want to end the war. I think that the Green Party have some really good ideas, but I'm really not sure how they plan on going through with all of them, while lowering the cost of living. But to be honest, I really don't think I know too much about each of the platforms because it seems like most politicians just discuss what's wrong with the other parties. But, in the Whitby-Oshawa riding, I wouldn't want the NDP candidate (David Purdy) to win, so I'm not sure how I would be contributing to NDP success. I definitely don't want Jim Flaherty to win again either (which he probably will). Doug Anderson or Brent Fullard would be alright. Canadian politics kind of suck.
i'm a big deal.

this whole election is dumb.
$300 million to hold an election for something that isnt totally worth it.
anyone who didnt follow the election yesterday, will be happy to know that everything is literally the exact same.
Stephen Harper is still Prime Minister in a minority government.
NDP gained a few seats and Liberal lost a few.
But generally...$300 Million, down the drain.
THIS is why people make fun of us.
and our silly accents.
