Jeff from This Day & Age (http://www.thisdayandagemusic.com) (who you all need to know and be listening to as they're on the verge of blowing up) has decided to recommend with me this week. Make sure you check both our selections.
Here's what I've been spinning for the week:
Armor For Sleep (http://www.armorforsleep.com) - What To Do When You Are Dead
I know some people are probably really into this or disappointed. I, however, happen to be really into this record and am listening to it far more than anything else. I love when bands do different sounds, styles and vibes with each record so I was glad to see the route this band went with this new one. I'm sure it's going to be overhyped, but I feel it's for due reason. My personal favorite track is "The Truth About Heaven."
The Academy Is (http://www.theacademyrock.com) - Almost Here
I am in no way shape or form into this as much as Mr. Jason Tate. However, I think this band has improved so much in comparison to their old stuff and has put together a SOLID (not amazing) record that I enjoy and really like some songs on. I'm sure many of you will eat this up as it is super catchy, witty and fun. I'd say if you hated this band's old stuff, then at least give the new jams a try. You might be surprised.
Kevin Devine (http://www.kevindevine.com) - Make The Clocks Move
I think this is one singer/songwriter that doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. I mean his instrumental, music, lyrics and voice are all divine (pun intended). If you're into that whole acoustic singing and songwriting with some wit and real talent, then this is for you.
I've also been listening to some:
Broken Social Scene
Paris, Texas
Interpol
I definitely recommend you spin some of that gnarly stuff as well. Now peep out Jeff's picks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff - This Day & Age
Aloha - Sugar
Bjork - Medulla
Sufijan Stevens - Greetings From Michigan
New Order - Republic
Tristeza - Dream Signals
The Webb Brothers - Self Titled
The Appleseed Cast - Two Conversations
