I've been a Green Day fan for TEN (that's right, count 'em) years. Though my favorite GD album changes every once in a while, 1039 and Kerplunk have been in 1, 2, or 3 for ten years. Those albums are fantastic and are a million times better than Warning. Though it will never happen, people need to start paying attention to GD's older stuff. Some diehard Green Day fans think Dookie was their first album.

most people have been fans of green day for 10 years.

that makes it like a year after dookie came out.

now, if you've been a fan of green day for like... 15 years (i'm not entirely sure when they actually formed,) then you've got bragging rights.

I get bragging rights because I meant to say 11 years--I was actually EIGHT at the time. If my friend's older sister hadn't told us about them I would not be where I am today by any means.

Most people got into Green Day because of "Time of Your Life." Oddly enough, there's also a new breed of fans because of American Idiot--you'd figure everyone's heard of Green Day by now...

pshh, you're two years younger than me, "basketcase" and "when i come around" were on the same radio stations everyone was listening to. you have no bragging rights.

I agree....Dookie was the first cd I ever owned. Most people around 18 years old on this site got into music because of Green Day. So why do you have bragging rights?

"bragging rights"= total joke. Guess my sarcasm isn't appreciated here.

Most people got into Green Day because of "Time of Your Life."Hahahah, now that's a fucking joke. It may have somewhat revived their career, seeing as how they didn't have a "hit" after Dookie besides this, but to say most people got into them because of it... well you're moronic.

well you're moronic.

Go fuck yourself. I know so many people that didn't get into Green Day until "Time of Your Life." You know very well that they picked up a TON of fans with that song. When people say Green Day, most kids will think about "Time of Your Life" rather than "Longview," "Basket Case," or "When I Come Around."

Yeah, I couldn't agree more, their old stuff is completely unappreciated by the masses. I remeber writing them fanmail when I was in 5th grade (using the address off 1,039/Smoothed) and am now finished with college. I've been a huge fan for quite a while and honestly Insomniac is my favorite. It's just fast-paced and powerful, Green Day at their finest.

When I was in 3rd grade, my Dad told me he read in the newspaper that Billie Joe got arrested--little did I know that rock stars can't get arrested... I was so sad... I thought Green Day was going to break up and BJ would be locked up for a long time... :lol2: Anyway, I wrote the band fan mail saying how sorry I was about BJ and how I hoped they wouldn't break up. I miss being an innocent little kid...
