View Full Version : Realistic Midi Drum Sounds

I've managed to get extremely realistic drum sounds by programming the drums with Reason. Even my drummer friend couldn't tell the difference. The only problem is that the snare is kinda generic. I want something more All Time Low-Four Year Strong-ish. Something pop-punk I guess. Anyone know of any drum packs or something that could make me achieve this sound? All I need is the snare.
EDIT: I'm still not 100% satisfied, but I managed to add more BALLS to the snare by messing with the EQ. It used to sound like someone was hitting it with a branch, and I have a problem against drummer that tap the snare.

Just pitch it up a bit, make it sound a bit tighter.
I use EZDrummer but I can't imagine that giving you a much better sound for that genre, just try messing with the pitch and time shifting it a bit to make it faster.

I tried that and it does sound a bit tighter, but also a bit more fake. Sigh, I'll just keep looking for a decent drum sound.
If you want it tighter you could increase the high range EQ. Then to make it sound less fake maybe add some light reverb.
Also maybe try compressing the track, you'll get more presence and the quality will go down so it'll be harder to tell its fake

You might check out tweakheadz.com as there is a lot of useful info over there on the art of messing with drum sounds.

If you want the EXACT four year strong snare, I can try and get ahold of the samples from the studio. We have the same kick samples on our record. We might have a folder with the snare too that you can just throw into a folder. Right now for Reason demos, we use the Abbey Road add-on package.
