A little different to start the singles off with a slower song but that's alright i think it will blow them up instantly. Once it hits the airwaves.

awesome, this album is excellent and that is a great song as a single even if it is slower than some of the others.

i'm honestly dissapointed in this choice for the first single. I think a band thats about to get thrown into the mainstream should release a first single that truly defines their sound....instead, this is the slowest, most dramatic song on the CD. It has huge potential to blow up, but my concern is wondering if it will fall under the radar because there was no hard introduction? If this isn't making any sense, think of blink 182. What's my Age Again, All the Small Things, then the slow song...Adam's Song. I dunno. I just love Acceptance so much and I really want to see them be successful, I just hope they get the attention they deserve, and after this first single is over they can reorient fans with a fast and hard song, perfect for the summer. If that actually occurs, then this move could be genius...

I totally agree with you. Let's hope for it.. I'd put the first track of the unmastered version as first single..

I agree. We'll see what happens though. They do have a lot of great faster songs on Phantoms to make people rock out this summer. So this could be genius like you said. Hopefully it works out, and with album i can't see it not.

yes. i really can not wait for this cd to be released. i'm predicting it to be my favorite of 2005.
and although i havent heard any of it yet (besides that clip up for nfl street) i'm sad to hear the first single will be a slow(er) song. i love the energy acceptance brings to all aspects of their music and so it sucks that people wont see that as like a first introduction to the band. but whatever. i'm pissing myself with excitement anyway

Track 6 is my favorite. I don't know if its radio-material, but its a great song.
On that note though, I don't see this band actually reaching the fame of Yellowcard, The Ataris etc., where you could hear them one minute and Kelly Clarkson the next. I see them more on a Brand New level after they released Deja Entendu, appealing to mainly rock stations. That isnt anything to be ashamed of, I just think it doesnt put as much significance on the choice of single. There are a number of songs on this album that could hit radio airwives and have success to a certain extent.

I disagree. I think the advantage to having Different as the single is that it has potential for crossover with radio stations. I could easily imagine hearing this song played on the same stations as Kelly Clarkson, simply because the song itself doesn't quite keep itself within the rock genre. Hopefully they get their foot wedged in the door enough with both bases that a second, faster single could completely blow them up with both.

i agree with you but at the same time i can see why they would pick this song. Purely because it's a poppy catchy song that undoubtedly would be played at somebody's prom. But also like you said, this song really doesn't do justice to their overall sound.

This tracklisting is 100% WRONG. These songs arent even in the same order as the songs on the actual copy.

That's not the tracklisting. This already showed up on the acceptance livejournal, and I talked to my brother (Christian, the guitarist for acceptance) about it, and he just laughed. Most of those are not song titles (honestly. how unoriginal. hanging on contagiously? this could last forever? all that ever mattered? no. just...no.), and that's not even the final order of the songs on the album. Note how it's still in the order of the version that leaked...and Phantoms still has one more song on it than what was leaked. So the tracklisting is missing that as well.
Wherever you guys are getting this from is incorrect.
And in response to everyone's deal with "different" being the first single...it's gonna be awesome. The version of the song that you all have is nothing compared to what the final version sounds like. I'm not even kidding. I hated the leaked version, and would always skip it when listening to the cd, but I wanted to cry when I heard the new version. It's so good. And I understand that it's not the band's "typical sound", but they put a lot more thought into which song to go with than most of you are giving them credit for. As mentioned before, there are tons of songs that they could've gone with, and they went through all the options; when you're on a label like Columbia, the label also has some say in which song you should use as the first single. So, don't be "disappointed", don't be "frustrated", or whatever. Just support them. It'll be awesome.

I am in absolute love with this album, and "Different" was the first song on the album to really grab me, I think its a good choice for a first single, and yea they're gonna be huge. I see what happened to Yellowcard happening with them, only they're better than Yellowcard.
