Main Event: Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. Ken Shamrock

Multiple sources close to the fighters are reporting that this bout has been finalized and EliteXC is expected to make an announcement regarding the bout later this afternoon. Kimbo Vs. Shamrock is scheduled to be the nights main event. There has been plenty of speculation recently that Kimbo would be facing either Brett Rogers or even former youtube opponent Sean Gannon but it looks as if Ken Shamrock has won the Kimbo lottery this time around.
This fight makes alot of sense to EliteXc as far as the draw from many mainstream fans that will easily recognize either fighters name. Many of the hardcore mma fans are likely to disagree with the decision of Shamrock as Kimbo’s next opponent as they were ready to see him face some tough competition in the form of heavweight knockout artist Brett Rogers but it looks like that’s one fight that is just going to have to wait.
Kimbo should have little problems with an aging Shamrock that is coming off of a knockout loss to journeyman Robert “Buzz” Berry and hasn’t looked impressive years. This fight should add onther W to Kimbo’s record and give him a little more star power from defeating one of the sports legends in the game. While Kimbo’s popularity will grow from this bout, it is doubtful that very many questions will be answered as to whether or not Kimbo Slice is the real deal until he faces a tougher test in the future

Its a set-up match...put a big name who is way past his prime and let Kimbo tear him apart. But, the last match was similar, put Kimbo on network TV against some joke and let him dominate in one round. Next thing you know, its early round 3 and the match is still going. The difference in this match is that Shamrock can capitalize when kimbo fucks up

James Thompson was a guy who had a history of getting knocked out in the first round on punches...which is Kimbo's strong point. Except for early in his career, Thompson had never won a match by submission...a cupcake opponent

I think Kimbo loses if Shamrock gets him to the ground...and then people can finally watch Kimbo go away

Exactly...the ref let him keep fighting in the second round of his last EliteXC fight when he was on his back and it looked like he was asleep. Then he came back and won the fight. This time, Kimbo was already in Disneyland when the ref called it.

His sparring partner head-butted him in practice apparently...which opened a cut on his eye...and the rules state that you can't fight if you've recently had any laceration, so Shamrock was forced to scratch.
