Damien Rice is great. I really don't listen to him as much as I should, though.

If you like acoustic stuff then definitely. I'd recommend The Blower's Daughter.

I like him, but one of my roommates kind of ruined Cannonball for me. He played it all the time on his guitar and he sings horribly. He can take any song and turn it into a nickelback or 3 doors down song. No matter what the song is, he strums super fast and has this low, raspy grunting singing voice that sounds like someone just punched him in the stomach.

Anyways, Damien Rice is good.

Speaking of Nickelback, I have a fantastic mp3 of "How You Remind Me" and "Someday" played over each other. I kid you not, it is exactly the same song, structure, key and all.

Crafty bastards.

Anyway, as for your friend, it could be worse, he could've turned it into a Creed song.

Yeah, I've heard that.

I'd toss Creed in there too. It's not that he sounds just like Nickelback specifically, he just tries to imitate that same annoying vocal style and I'd put Creed in that group, too.

Yikes.

That's pretty terrible.

This does not suprise me.

I like Damien Rice too, the entire 'o' cd is great.
