Chris Envy, formerly of Showoff, is hoping to have a reunion show for the band to serve as a benefit for his family. His dad was diagnosed with cancer and during the surgery they found out that it had spread to his heart, lungs, liver and stomach. He was given three months to live and because of how weak he had gotten he lost his job and in turn Chris' dad, mother and grandmother are losing their house. All Chris can do is music so he's putting this show together to help. He has already confirmed himself and ex-Showoff drummer Daniel Castady for it. It will be sometime in March. We'll keep you posted on that. If you'd like to help donate whatever you can, though, then send it to:

Wow, that's terrible. Best of luck to them. Showoff was such a great band. My friends and I definitely look back on that CD with some good memories. They were actually the first band I've ever seen at a Warped Tour, and I remember how stoked we were when my friend gave Chris a high five.

i caught showoff on tour with goldfinger back several years ago. you couldn't meet a bunch of nicer guys. chris was so happy to hang with and talk to fans, and he offered me some of his dr. pepper. very down to earth fellas.
his family is my thoughts and prayers.

Showoff was, and still is, one of my favorite bands ever. my friends and I probably seen then a dozen times in the WI/IL area. the reunion show is the best news I've heard in a long time, but its unfortunate about the purpose for this event. my prayers go out to you and your family, chris. I will definately be making the trip to whereever this takes place. always wanted to see them one last time. just for those who care, heres where the guys are now:
Chris (vocals): The Holiday [RIP], Farewell My Enemy [RIP]
Dan (drums): The Fold [signing to a label soon, haven't heard that it's Tooth & Nail yet though]
Kyle (guitar): Allister
Magoo (guitar): Allister guitar tech
Nick (bass): ?

I never really liked Showoff's music but I sure wouldn't wish this situation on any one. In a band or not. Best of luck to him and his family.

that's horrible. i would totally go if it is anywhere near ny/nj.
speaking of showoff, does anyone have that unreleased cd of theirs? i think it was called "wish you were her" or something like that.

Hasn't the guy from the Fold said that he can't play the kind of music that he was playing in Showoff anymore?
That sucks about the guy's family though.

I actually have their unreleased cd......back when they broke up I emailed them and Dan said if i sent them a blank cd they would burn it for me. They definately were cool guys. I wish chris and his family the best.

I have only heard a few songs by them and I never got into the band but this really sucks. I would hope people wouldnt even wish this on HH. As for donations he should set up a paypal account that always brings in a few bucks and its easier than mailing in a check.

You can actually still get the CD through the band at http://66.39.114.118, my friend just did it. The guys still get the e-mails, and fill the orders.

I bought it from the band. when the showoff site was still up (don't know if it is), I emailed them about it, and they said if i gave them a couple bucks, they'd send me a burned copy of it. It's a decent cd. Needs to be mixed and mastered better but a good cd.
Sucks this had to happen to a guy like Chris and his family. I thought I was like the only Showoff fan left on the planet cause none of my friends like em. If i was in the area i'd pay like 50 bucks to see them again. Best wishes to chris and his family!

I loved Showoff, most underrated band on planet. I didn't like FME, not Chris's style. I will definetly send money when I get paid. Showoff was great, I still rock them!!

my wife did the same thing...only she never got a copy of it...boy is she pissed, too...Showoff is/was totally her FAVORITE band on the planet, she damn near literally broke into tears when she heard they broke up...
Even though we live in Idaho, we'll do what we can about getting to that show; she always wanted to see them live...rock on Showoff...
On a more personal note, my mom died almost two years ago at the hands of very near the same affliction, so Chris, and to all related parties, warmest of wishes to you and if I can't be there, good luck with the reunion show (what an AWESOME idea!!!)
