I love 'trane. Check out Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, and Thelonius Monk too.

Life of the party
and she swears that she's artsy
but you could distinguish
Miles from Coltrane

I thought that if John Mayer mentions Coltrane in on of his songs, then I should definitely check it out. I'm extremely glad I did!

Central Park West and Cousin Mary are some of my favorite songs.

I more of a Miles man myself. But of course Coltrane holds it down aswell.

Central Park West and Cousin Mary are some of my favorite songs.

The intro to "Cousin Mary" is awesome.

Though it's a given, I've got to say my favorite 'trane cut is definitely "Giant Steps."

Any of you like Ornette Coleman?

Be-bop and free jazz are godly.

my fav by the trane has to be "countdown" he just fucking goes off.

i love ornette coleman, but my favorites right now have to be: Trane, Miles, Thelonious, mahavishnu orchestra, and...(though he's not really jazz) ravi shankar

Have you ever seen any videos of Thelonious play? I'm taking a jazz history class right now and we've watched a few live performances of his... he was a pretty crazy guy. He used to wear really weird hats and would get up in the middle of songs and dance/walk around in a cricle. Absolute genius, though!

Man, has anyone heard the album that Thelonious and Coltrane team up on? Absolute GENIUS! Anyone else agree?
