According to an email I just recieved, Reel Big Fish (http://www.reel-big-fish.com) have announced April 5th as the release date for their new album, which is entitled We're Not Happy Til You're Not Happy. The new album was co-produced by Shawn Sullivan and Reel Big Fish frontman, Aaron Barret. The band will launch a tour of colleges this Spring, which will be followed up by a European tour in June. After that, the band will hit the road with label mates, Bowling For Soup, for a full-fledged tour this summer. Lastly, i've posted the tracklist for the new album in the replies, as well as a little extra information.

Yes! Wow, this is such great news! Question: Did oldschool RBFers Grant and Tavis record with them? There was a message on their site that hinted at their return to the band?

Oh yeah, and Brandon, you are the man! Through and through. Wow. Way to get that news.

I don't listen to much ska at all, but I love this band. This record's looking to be pretty awesome.

Someone missed the part 'an updated version of fan favorite "Beer"' . Either way, the one that caught my eye was Turn the Radio Off. I can only imagine that could be some cynical look back to the era when they were popular. Anyone remember Viva Variety on Comedy Central? That was a funny show and I remember them performing on it one time.

Where's their first single they mention in the press release? I don't see it in the tracklisting. Or I am completely blind.

Rad. I hope it's better than Cheer Up, that CD had a few good tracks but was overall pretty bad.

What exactly did they think needing improvement on "Beer"? 2 covers and 1 redone song? Kind of lame if you ask me. But hell, I still love 'em.

In hearing this news, I remembered how good "Turn the Radio Off" was, and so I purchased it on iTunes just now for $9.99. (I lost my original, illegally-downloaded copy, and was too lazy to find a place to re-download it from)

It says they are in the original message..
I can not WAIT for this release, though it is somewhat pathetic they're doing a remake and two covers..but it would be impossible for such a great band to not put out an awesome release!

yes yes, this is definitely very sweet news indeed.

from what i recall, my favs were "one hit wonderful" and "last show", and "turn the radio off". however, each song really makes me proud of the band and even more loyal and committed as a fan, because it totally kicks major ass.

i'm told you can expect to see the band on some late night talk shows and whatnot, in addition to actual support and promotion by jive this time around.

and "revolution" is pretty cool, not too shabby. the record jumps musical genres like puddles, but it works for them and sounds awesome.

i guarantee i will be among the first in line for the preorder, because i seriously cannot wait to start spinning this disc.

make sure you turn the volume up really really loud when it gets to the secret tracks, too. ;)

p.s. grant and tavis did not have anything to do with the recording....

In response to everything:

1. Yes, Beer is redone on this album.
2. The new single is just listed as Revolution, or so that's what i'd assume.
3. Cheer Up really wasn't all that bad, it's just different. Had some amazing tracks.
4. About the old members returning to record for this album, I have no idea.
5. For those of you thinking Turn The Radio off is a redone version of an old song, it's not. It's new.
6. 11 new songs + 2 covers + 1 rerecorded track. I think that's pretty awesome. You're lucky to get 11 tracks total on most albums these days.
7. I need yet another new pair of pants.

they better not remake beer
Guess what? Probably the only version of Beer that you've heard was a remake itself. In fact, about half the songs from Turn The Radio Off were remakes of songs from Everything Sucks. Another handful were remade when they did Why Do They Rock So Hard, yet nobody seemed to complain then. Cheer Up was the first album to NOT contain any remakes of songs they'd already written, and even that album had 3 covers on it! So quit your bitching and get ready to have your ass blown off by this record!

I, for one, am excited beyond words for this album, and am ready to call it album of the year. At least we didn't have to wait a full 4 years between albums again.

And to the dude several posts above, no Tavis and Grant did not record on the new album. Aaron's just a big cynical jokester and I believe there's still a good deal of bad blood between the band and those two. He was probably just saying it as a joke to those people who bitch and moan about how different the band sounds from the days of TTRO and WDTRSH.

tavisis DEFINATELY not on the album...on the commentary of the live dvd aaron says some things along the lines of "Tavis gets an F as a human being" so ya...RBF does covers because they are known for covers...dont bitch about them doing what works...this shit is gonna be amazing

i acually own Everything Sucks thank you very much. the version of beer on that cd was incredible. the fact that they remade it for turn the radio off is ok.. the fact that they are doing it again is just milking it. whatever hopfully i will be eating my words.

I'm still so incredibly stoked for a new album from my favourite band. I'm counting down the days until April 5th.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the new version of Beer will have more horns in the song. You know, instead of just sort of backing instruments in the chorus. I could see them replacing Aarons stellar gutiar solos in the intro riffs to that song with horn parts isntead. Either way, i'm sure it won't dissapoint me.
