Well, I'll tell you what, I bought the whole album yesterday and I can give you my opinion right now!!!
At first listen (which is all I have in, unfortunately), the only thing I can tell you is that it seems that with every release, these dudes seem to lose a little bit more of their knack for melodies...not that that's a bad thing, because there is a boat-load of rock on the record...especially the bonus track. However, I would like to add that I kind of had the same reaction when Elva came out, and now I think that it RULES!!! So in conclusion, I would definitely not not recommend this...but if you're looking for catchy, I would advise you to look elsewhere friends and fellow rockers...oh, I'd give it a 7.2...pretty good, but not great. Thanks, yo.

On first listen I'm gonna have to give it a 6..5. I think it might grow on me a bit. I'm a fan of the more catchy Unwritten Law days like their self titled cd, but this CD was still pretty good.

I vote for Anberlin instead.
I think I'm giving this album a 7. Its a good cd but I think UL could have done a lot better. I really liked elva and love their older stuff. This cd just seems a little too plain lyrically and lacks the energy their past cds have.

i like a lot of the songs... but they seem too generic. i just can't stand some of the heavier guitar riffs. they're cheese.
they do a great job with the more pop sounding songs. like Save Me, Because of You, The Walrus...
the album gets a 6.8

i give this album an 8...its a lot better than Elva (a shitty nu-metal album), but not as good as the self titled...there arnt andy cheesy lyrics on this album, which is surprising for a UL album. i think save me is a very good song, but the video is shitty as fuck. holla. new GAD songs tonight! BEOTCH!

i wouldn't call elva numetal, just bad.
heh, seriously i wanted to like it, but i just couldn't. i bought it and took it to a cd store for like $2.00 a week later. then like a year after that my roomate had it out and said it was awesome, i listened to it for a few days after that and gave it back and told him he was a tool and it sucked.
sry elva fans, i'll listen to the new album tho.

I give this album a 7.5. I've always had a special spot for Unwritten Law and apparently it's still kind of there. On first listen it isn't as good as their older stuff, but I can still enjoy it.

Ehhh, not really feeling this. I thought Elva was decent, some of the songs sucked. This album is just alright, I guess because I'm looking for a real catchy melody and chorus and its just not there. Save Me is alright. 6.

3. This album sucks. Vocals are overproduced, lyrics are trash, completely uninteresting musically. Stupid radio rock flavor with forced shouty backup vocals. Make it end.
Note: I enjoy the s/t and Elva.

Well I bought this album yesterday. It's good , but yeah it's totally generic. It just sounds like they're just trying to be something they're not. They have totally departed from the sound that got me so hooked on them(OZ Factor). I really liked the step in the darker direction with their self-titled but it's just not the same UL that I grew up loving. Anyway, I recommend it to everyone who doesn't have the same problems with nostalgia thats keeping me from totally digging this record. Don't get me wrong, it is catchy as hell and so rad that they got Tony Palermo(Ten Foot Pole, Pulley) to lay down the drums. but if anyone out there was kinda hoping that they would show some more signs of earlier UL---be advised...

i liked Elva when it came out.. however, i haven't listened to it about a year and my musical tastes have changed since then. i haven't heard anything from the new record except that one single on the radio which i like just fine.

i was a really big fan of elva.. i thought it was great. the one thing i miss on this album are the ballads and the more emotional songs. LOTS of rock on this album. Dont get me wrong.. its a good album. But yeah... it kinda sounds like the recycled the harder songs off of Elva and put them on this album. 7.
Save me, because of you, and lost control are my favorites. She says is pretty good as well... it fooled me the first time i heard it... i thought it was going to be a ballad... but hell no.

A 5 because half of the songs are good, the other half aren't.

Iv been a fan of these guys for some time now...their S/T was amazing, every song on that cd i loved....then came Elva and well i liked it upon first listen but got REALLY sick of it. Then up all night on the radio made it worse. It just showed how this cd didnt match their S/T....i mean "up all night" or "calin"??? So yeah i was disapointed of "Heres to the mourning" because for some reason i had high hopes....i dont know why...i have listened to it 4 times through now, and i have no disire to go back (seeing that i have the new Armor for sleep, academy is, the goodwill, spitalfield, hidden in plain view and Anberlin CDs) But ill come back to this cd sometime...but i do have a feeling it will grow on me.....so far HTTM ill give it a 6.8 and riseing, (ps....the new GAD songs are freaking amazing, and spitalfield still has thier "Old" sound, just redefined...dont let the new purevolume song discourge you....) Oh and elva....lets see a 7 and lowering, S/T 9.2 and the Blue room, 7.5 that is all!

A 6 overall. Definitely better than Elva, it was all over the place. This album is more focused. However even for "major label punk" its overproduced. No matter how different the intro is for every song they all devolve into pro-tools guitar sludge and end up sounding generic. I really, really hate to say it but even New Found Glory did it better. For a band that worked with Pink's hook-writer "Save Me" isn't a very catchy lead single. I'm another that loved the self-titled record when it came out .

i dont know if anyone that frequents this site listens to the beatles....but that song 'walrus' is a blatant and disgusting mess of a beatles song. "i read the news today and the walrus said the lucky man made the grade"??? come on. thats really embarassing.

I think I will pick this up tomorrow but its doesnt seem to be as good as expected. Maybe I should pick up Anberlin instead since I seem to like there new stuff much better than the last CD.

Yeah I would rate this about a 7 or so. I actually liked Elva a lot and this fell a little short of that.
By the way, Anberlin's new one rocks.

I give it a 7. The album was pretty decent.
Ya I'd give this album a 7. Can't say I've heard more than a couple of their older songs so I can't really compare. But it does have some catchy songs that I liked a lot at first but got kind of old quick. I've only heard 4 songs off the new Anberlin but I would still buy it over this. Good album just pretty forgettable.

haha yeah.. i was like what the hell.. i thought the only band could ever pull off a song that had anything to do with a walrus would be the beatles. and i was right. you know you've done way to many drugs when you start writing songs about walruses
