Skate & Surf (http://www.skateandsurf.com) has been totally erased off of Concert East (http://www.concertseast.com/). Go there and search for the festival and now you get no matches.

This fucking sucks.

Yeah, it's not as if there is now an exact replica at the same place at the same time with the same bands for the same price.

I don't see why anyone should care about this, that bamboozle thing took over for it and skate and surf had nothing to do with either of the afomentioned anyway

No skin of my dick... Bamboozle is where it's at anyways.

This sucks only because I wanted to drive up for S&S and I still have college classes during the time Bamboozle is. Shucks.

that's not entirely true. max cruise, the production company who is doing the bamboozle, was created by several people who used to work at concerts east. they didn't get fired, they just left to start their own thing.

skate and surf was always a joint effort between max cruise and concerts east, but this year concerts east decided to cut max cruise out of the deal. in retaliation, max cruise turned the bamboozle, which used to be a 3-day funk and jam band festival held exclusively at the stone pony, into a skate and surf knock off.

many of the bands weren't sure which festival to go to, since radius clauses in the contracts would only allow them to play one. one major booking agent, who books several of the largest bands on the show decided to go to the bamboozle, so in turn, all of the other booking agents went to the bamboozle too, leaving concerts east with nobody to play skate and surf.

it's a shame that the skate and surf name won't be around this year, i've been to everyone everyday since they had them.

The site is still up but it is here (http://www.skateandsurffest.com)

They took down the information about the battle of the bands but the site is still up and it says-STAY TUNED … INFORMATION IS COMING SOON! but this may be news that it is cancelled so.....

the only thing that may be wierd about bamboozle is that, unlike S&S, the bamboozle is not just in the convention center. it's also in the stone pony and other venues down on the shore. making traveling from one band's set to another more of a task than at s&s. and there are capacity limits, so if you get to a location to see a band's set, but it's full, you're out of luck.

i'll still go and check it out, but that may change things for the worse.

that happened quite a few times in the theater part of the convention center. there have been numerous bands over the last 3 years of skate and surf that i missed because that theater was full. This even happened a couple times at the other stages. I really don't think it's going to be much different than any other year of skate and surf, capacity-wise.

Also, the stone pony isn't really that far at all. I don't know where the other venues are, but it would definitely suck if they weren't that close. However I can't imagine they'd do that.

yeah i think bamboozle is better but then again if bamboozle wasnt happening most of those badns would have been on skate and surf

Morons.

Skate And Surf is now Bamboozle.

The same bands that would've played SAS are now on the Bamboozle.

And the lineup FUCKING OWNS.

Chris Carrabba doing a reunion show with FSF is enough to make someone cream their pants.

I'm going to try to find a way to go to this.

Not to mention the fact that they've already stated they are going to organize it better... I know at Skate And Surf last year when I was trying to get back in I ended up missing a full set. Skate and Surf was horribly organized

The Stone Pony is a 4-5 minute walk from Convention Hall. I don't know what other "venues" up and down the shore they are going to use. I'd imagine that the bigger bands will still play a main stage in Convention Hall and have smaller stages set up within Convention Hall similar to S&S.

EDIT: And how/why do I have -5 scene points?

seriously, the only way that this could be any better is if at the drive in were reuniting to play it... and maybe the movielife, but i don't think it's been long enough to make me want them nearly as bad as i want to see chris with fsf.

purevolume.com must have terminated their relationship with s&s because there not on the front page of skateandsurffest.com. there is no point to holding s&s anyway unless they pull off a miracle line up of bands who didnt play bamboozle.

Although Skate and Surf was very dissorganized last year whose really to say that Bamboozle is going to be an improvement. Whatever the case may be as long as they have the right bands playing the right stages and security is actually working (maybe we don't want them working lol) then may it'll be good. Last year though I remembered the Arcade Stage located centrally in the convention centre A Static Lullaby was playing. It was so dissorganized,, a major fire hazard, a fire alarm was set off...which was weird though is that they were on the main stage in 2003 but whatever. Lets just hope that it turns out to be an amazing weekend

I'm from Seattle so I dont know much about either festival. Was Skate and Surf held in NJ and is that where this Bamboozle is going to be held? I wish I could get over there but it would just cost way too much. I'm thinking about going to Coachchella but that like a slap in the face compared to Bamboozle.

I'd go to Coachella if it was closer and if it wasn't at the same time as The Bamboozle. Coachella has Weezer and Rilo Kiley and Eisley. That's pretty kick ass.

I think I'm going Day 1, because I don't have enough money to go all 3 days...

Is there a good reason to go the other days(well Day 2 with FSF original line up but... + Day 3 Say Anything) but, Day 1 seems to have the bands I like most....actually, they did the same thing as S&S, Have all the bands I LOVE on dif. days...:(

WELL everyday i checked for updates on skate and surf and even tho i'm upset cuz i won't be checking out another great festival i look to april 30 and the rest of the bamboozle and say "this lineup blows any lineup skate and surf has ever had."

i was under the impression that there were five stages....main stage, the s+s "arcade stage", the paramount stage, the stone pony, and then one more, which was guessed to be along the boardwalk much like last years skate and surf.

i cant imagine them using places like the saint for stages, merely because thats sort of a distance to go, and i dont know that many people would walk that far, and theres NO parking at the saint.

at any rate, im really excited about the bamboozle. and being up in good ole ap again.
